  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wireless HD kits available from OptiTek

Red LCD and others..

Red LCD and others..

Thanks Jacek.

Actually, it would be my personnal main monitor for focusing when I've got handeld, steadicam or crane shot, so nobody bothers me.
As I already see the pixels and aliasing in the Red Lcd which is 720p. Rez matters a lot to me, because I don't care about pretty much anything else but my marks and the rez when rec is on :)

A 10" HD panel would be really really great, but for directors or dp. 5.6" is just fine for me humble AC, what's why I quote the smallhd lcd's.
Thanks Berenger,
Let me get some facts straight:
Red LCD is not quite 720-it's 1000x600 pixels same as my 10" monitor.
What you are seeing are most likely scaling artifacts related to double scaling-
one for rough debayer monitoring signal and the second one from 1280x848 to
1000x600 or whatever portion of that the viewable area on screen is.
What makes the difference about my monitors is the contrast ratio:
much higher because of the transflective technology. With deep blacks and vivid colors they are just easier to see.... Think about it this way- where would you rather watch a movie? in a brightly lit room or in pitch dark. Where would you see more detail?
Again, Red LCDs are great integrated devices but the display tech made some great strides recently....

the L shaped hdmi connector is great! are you gonna go forward with an sdi version? an added suggestion would be a loop through on the transmitter and receiver side. if it doesn't cause any delay of course.

so you could have a loop through on the camera to go to another panel if need be, or from the receiver end, where AC is pulling focus on the small monitor, and looping to a director's monitor. useful if camera is on a big crane, and director and AC can view without having to be tethered to the crane so to speak.

but the fact that this is no delay alone is amazing.

Looks like SDI is a viable option now.
For system flexibility purposes we'll make it an add on to the existing system- a module that can be purchased later. It will affect the bulk and the power consumption somewhat....

Jacek ! Just wondering how do you power On-Camera monitors like Marshall
who use v-mount or Sony batteries when the unit is attached ?

Just a suggestion, what about a one/two slot cradle that sits under the monitor and is attaches to the monitor via a 1/4" thread. Not sure if this would work but it might make it easy to set down and view if it had some rubber feet/strips, or to hold in your hand. Just a suggestion !

Thanks Ray,
The mounting bracketry is universal to mount on many monitors.
We are also making custom adapters when deemed necessary for particular brands and models. Very lightweight and inexpensive.
WE only offer COMPLETE SOLUTIONS:wink5:

That's right Constantine- not a huge issue if you do research, but still cabling, power, clutter etc.
I'm making a tiny module that will do that- convenience and simplicity have their value...

weight and power

weight and power

Nice. How small? I thought that you were talking external conection as well? so the cables are there? anyhow nice. I would prefer a better box construction my self but thats just me.
well done.

It's hard to make sturdy box that's light. On the other hand you want as light as possible and small/ergonomic for hand held.
Power draw is a concern as well.
I feel that my system is optimized for these specs:wink5:

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say that I have tested this setup today and it was awesome.
I was lucky enough to have been shipped one of the first units.

I love how lightweight the 10" is and how clear/bright you can see in different conditions. There was ZERO latency...it was realtime. Range was around 100-150' or so.

Jacek also provides wonderful customer service and support.

This sounds great, I'm interested...

Do you think you'll be able to make a model that can be used with more than one receiver ? If not, is it possible to chain them (Camera Tx --> Main 24" monitor Rx --> second Tx --> Small portable monitor with second Rx) ?

In a multicamera setup, is it possible to use multiple Tx/Rx on the same set without interference ?

Is it full HD ? Compressed ? Uncompressed ?

Do you have more info about your monitors ? (brands, weight, power draw, etc...)

What's the price of additional batteries, and how long do they power your RX+monitor setup ?

Thanks :-)

Hi Nils,
The Multi receiver is not possible with current setup.
Yes you can daisy chain Rx>Tx.
I've tried three and worked fine-more- possibly:confused1:
I was getting 5-6hrs with the 10" monitor and little more (1/2-1hr) with the 7" since it draws less power. I have the same time reported from users in the field.
The battery is swappable in a few seconds.
contact me for pricing directly please...
