  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Will you be able to read JPG/TIFF in camera?

When creating digital matte paintings and even for some texture gathering will you be able to load an images back into the camera to view through the LCD? I will forgo the argument of frame overlay for now but I, like many others, like to place geometric lines across an image that is either the same prospective and height as the plate shot or other elements I am trying to match...Then reload it back into the camera for reference when shooting the other elements.

Will this be possible with the 2/3" scarlet?

Might be better to take the sdi out of the scarlet and use a laptop to overlay the live view over a JPG

Although that is very true and works in some situations, it kind of defeats the object slightly. I may as well take a DSLR with me and shoot it with that. For something like this mathematical accuracy isn't absolutely necessary as you have a certain amount of tolerance to work with its all about ease of shooting and mobility. If I'm walking around a city taking shots of buildings I don't want to have to mess around setting up a laptop. Plus it encourages too much attention.

What I meant is, this method as a workaround until the feature is added to do it in camera.

I got ya! It is logical afterall to do what you can to keep all the media from the same imaging device. Its not a big issue obviously as they can be corrected but there are so many features on the camera that would come in handy, HDRx being just one of them for motion elements.

Thanks for your input Aaron.

I'd like to see the ability to draw simple bezier masks on those jpegs using the touchscreen and the 1:1 focus check zoom in. Then have the jpeg on screen with a live window punched out for lining up multi-exposure perspective matching. This is probably something a third party could develop using the SDK, however.

Epic supports frame overlays for this purpose. :)
