Will I be able to change RED ONE for Scarlet?

How do you think Will RED make sach changing program for Scarlet as for Epic?
I mean of I will buy RED ONE now will I be able to change it for Scarlet when Scarlet will be realesed?

You can only trade a Red 1 for credit on an Epic.
You will get a discount on a Scarlet though. I think a lot of this info is on red.com or if you search through the Recon section on this forum.

I think R1 users get a 10% discount off Scarlet IF they haven't upgraded to Epic.

Don't buy till you need to, but don't wait to buy something if there is already something here that can do the work, and you will be wasting work opportunities waiting around for a product that has not yet a fixed date of release..

Yeah Jeff it does not, I never said it did, just that the discount for the Scarlet is 12% and not 10%, the discount can only be used by some one with a Red One that has not been executed for any stage.

No worries, Ketch. I quoted you, but I actually wasn't directing that at you. I was just throwing it out there and I don't recall for sure if that is how it works or not. I don't think the 12% discount applies if someone buys a RED One now. Kinda like if you buy one now, you can't do Stage 2 or 3 for Epic.

Just now the most confused situation. From one hand I need the camera now from another hand in one year after realesed Scarlet my RED ONE may be old and not so cool as new Scarlet. So it is dangerous to waste one more year without camera and it is dangerous to buy RED ONE now because in one year I will be able to buy more new and more cool camera for the same money. But I think I need buy RED ONE now.

Buy the R1 now if you need it.. i'm sure you'll be able to sell it later and still get a good penny for it even when the scarlet comes out. I wouldn't wait around for equipment either unless it's coming out next week. Get/use what you need to get the job done now.

I don't mean to be too harsh, but this isn't high school.

Unless you have endless supplies of money, you shouldn't purchase gear b/c it is "cool."

If you're doing this as a way to make money, get the tools that will make you the most money. Be it a R1 or a VHS camcorder, get the right tool for the right job.

And remember that it is more important how you use the your tools than if you have the newest ones. Many great films / videos were done with low quality equipment. But when the story is there, that is the most that matters.
