  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why?

Someone just deleted a tread i startet, why is red doing this? i mean, i was only asking if there is any Epic x or s shipped, whats wrong about that?
i thought its possible to ask, and discuss all questions here... but i guess red is only open for topics which make them look good.

Thats sucks red, i m sorry...

and now this thread will be deleted too, because its not making red look good,

strong companies, should be able to take some critics i think...

the problem is the same questions tend to happen over and over. new threads on them weekly, monthly, daily etc. So far it appears that only M's have shipped and the second that changes there will be news in the Recon section....

I'm no Red fanboy, but this site is supposed to be useful, first and foremost. Asking if cameras have been shipped that haven't been shipped serves no helpful purpose.

So, no offense, but I'm glad your thread was deleted, as it would have just gotten in the way of finding useful information.

It shouldn't have been too hard, with a tiny bit of research, to answer that question without a new thread.

Yes, but still, i think doing this with possible future costermors as meabe me, is a bad thing,... cause if you get treated like that, your not feeling comfortable, and this really do-sent help me trust in red at all.... thats just not Professional...

open the "recon" thread before posting questions that can quickly be answered there. The "search" feature will also pull up a wealth of information.. Alternatively you could check the store over at red.com.. Everything with an "add to cart" button can be purchased! Also, I would not accuse a company that is creating affordable production tools on the bleeding edge of what's possible as not being "professional".

David, you got the info. you need. The cameras have not shipped yet. I don't know why you are taking it personally or making it personal w/ Red by saying things like they are not a strong company or professional?

If you are prospective customer, then you're just going to have wait like the rest of us. That's the bottom line. To be honest, if having a thread deleted makes you decide to not buy a Red, they you probably didn't want one all that much to begin with.

Look at it from a moderator point of view. We can only please some of the people most of the time. We are constantly under bombardment from people who want a leaner, meaner forum that is easier to navigate and get right to the meat of the info. Questions like yours often get asked several times a week and many of those threads get answered again and again, and are often subsequently removed. I didn't see your thread myself, so there may have been other reasons for it to be removed. Often it can be pulled due to other discussions that occur down-stream in the thread. And when the original poster has already been answered and has acknowledged the answer, it's easier to just nix the thread and other potential problems along with it.

It also doesn't help your case when you also started a thread last month asking if we were going to have EPIC-X or S by 2012 or sometime in 2012. Essentially asking the same question...

Don't take it personal.

Also, keep in mind that RED themselves do not generally moderate directly, it's up to the moderators who are not RED employees.
If someone at RED does remove a post it's always for a good reason.

I'm just a owner/user and definitely want the forum to be more compact, so as Jeff says, can't please everyone.

First we have almost ALL had posts deleted - dont take it personally...

2nd... Whats wrong with yours? ... well to 99% of us, it means that you were TOO LAZY to search the boards and RECON and CRUCIAL ORDINANCE section of the site.

If you had, the answers are all there PLAIN AND CLEAR... RED ALSO Announced NO MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS UNTIL ITS READY TO SHIP... the most important thread you missed.

Just click on Jim jannard and read all HIS posts if you are too busy. You will be mostly caught up.

We are all super busy working professionals and take the time to search. You have all of 17 posts in 5 months on here... IF you spend the time absorbing the MYRIAD
of incredible information shared by other professionals...or met the dedicated and hard working RED TEAM... you would not even dream of posting something so LAME.

THANK YOU MODS> Please keep deleting stupid posts... MINE included...

I agree with the posts so far in general.

The news you may be interested in that may have gotten snowed under is that the Epic M camera is shipping, and there are hundreds of them available right now. I've seen serial #'s in the high 400's, but I'm not clear if the serial # is a fair indication of how many individual Epic's are out there working.

Its a faster roll out rate than Red One, and an exponentially faster delivery rate than Sony's F35 camera.

I've shot with Ketch Rossi & Steve Gibby's Epic #0008, and I can say without reservation its the best cinema camera on the planet today.

I know the Epic M is pretty expensive, but to put things in perspective, its a couple thousand less than Panasonic's HPX-3700 which clocks in at $59,950 MSRP, but doesn't include a viewfinder, LCD, media cards, batteries or a custom pelican case.

So, get yourself together and get the Epic M, or be patient. Later, when manufacturing in Japan gets sorted out I expect Epic X will ship in volume, and Epic S not terribly long after that. Remember the Epic X is just the "mass production version" of the Epic M, so we know the system already works.

I have a 3700 and every day I wish it could have been an epic.

Threads can get deleted because they quickly get derailed, making the whole thread near useless. And considering that people like me have been posting about shooting on the Epic and Red makes a post every time there is a new Epic-M owner, I don't get asking about whether any Epic-M's are shipping since it's clear that they have been already.

And Red has already made announcements about the delays in shipping the Epic-X and I'm sure you'll learn with the rest of us when they start shipping, so all in all, I didn't get the point of the original thread. But not having read the replies, nor can I tell you why it was deleted other than it must have been deemed as problematic in some way, either in its tone or in the type of responses it generated.

I envy you ... I have a 7D, and everyday wish it could be any of a half dozen or so other cameras.

Well except the days I take stills, then I'm happy enough.

There's no reason Scarlet 2/3rd shouldn't produce images that are exactly the same if not better than the 3700 is there? On paper, Scarlet seems to outperform this cam on many levels.. Would you sell this and get one if it proves to be true? Crazy times here regarding value/performace and all.. : )

Well, the key word there is "exactly" and the answer is no.

The 3700 uses some very nice highly evolved glass designed with 3CCD sensors in mind.

The Scarlet will use other lens types ... but it won't get the performance out of these broadcast lenses that a camera like the 3700 will get.

Hmmm ... put another way, you'll get the rough performance of putting an Angie 24-290 on an EX3 with a letus adapter. That's to say a lot lower performance than if you use the Fujinon glass designed for the EX3.

So, can you get similar performance? Sure. Can you use the Scarlet in the the same sorts of situations? Probably - especially if we get the "cinema" version and have a choice of great zooms ... or if there is a good B4 to PL mount ... or if Red makes a native B4 mount.

Coolio. I hope Scarlet isn't using that Cro-Magnon glass.. Ah, either way, I'm sure it'll be bashing a few heads.. I mean turning a few... **my silly mushy brain..

I was hoping the increased resolution would offset the awesome glass on the less awesomely sensor resolutions. I don't know, I'd say a Leica lens on a 2 megapix still camera wouldn't hold up to an 4-5 megapix cam with "kit" lens... #wishfullthinker ; )

I'd imagine the post was deleted because you asked "Is it true, that there is still not one EPIC X or EPIC S shipped yet ?".

For someone who's been on these boards for 5 months, you're either very lazy, or trying to stir up trouble. Either option seems like a good reason for deletion. l

Of all the things that get me about RED, it's 'customers' here claiming some sense of entitlement to a personal answer from the CEO or similar about when their camera might be shipping. And this.

PS - that's a direct quote above, as all deleted threads live on in my RSS feed. I see a lot of deleted threads. Many are plain libellous, most rude, some just plain stupid. Apart from all the recent ones about the Epic ....y'know mods.
