Why "Shot On iPhone" Commercials Look So Good! Ft. Claudio Miranda

Clean the lens! Especially on phones. Great video. I have not heard an interview with Miranda before. I really like listening to him.

We have come a long way since Tangerine and the 5S. I mean, pulling focus on a phone camera?

Gear matters, for sure. To say otherwise is fake. But sometimes, the lights are what's important. I think I need more LEDs...

Karim,

I think alot people talk about their gear because they have no real talent or skill to talk about. If you
have the talent and have spent the time to know your equipment's strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit those strengths and negate those weaknesses, you can get a good to great image damn near out of anything.

If I didn't believe it myself I would be filming on a canon rebel.
I think I get what you mean. And I agree. You do believe in yourself, and therefore, you use tools that match your vision, skills, confidence, and ambition.

I understand what both of you are saying. I believe if I had the new Red V -Raptor 8K VV [X] that it would encourage me to shot more than I did with all of video cameras I've had combined did.But I think the expensive price I paid for the Red V- Raptor 8K VV [ X] would be the biggest motivator for shoting more not some inner Drive to get better or to learn more. Would I have to buy a Stradivarius to encourage me to play the violin more and to pursue my dreams of becoming a world renowned violinist. Would I have to buy a FERRARI to encourage me to drive more, you see what I mean. Shouldn't your inner drive to get and be better be your only motivation and not any special thing? If you know you need a RED or ARRI camera to make a movie at a certain level then buy it. If you only going to use them to make 1 to 3 minute YouTube videos then you could have paid much less for a camera and spent more time developing your skills.A camera can't give you superpowers of knowledge only you can do that and with the help of other people more knowledgeable than yourself.

My favourite cars are 1990s era BMWs. And they cost four figures, not six figures. ;-)

My main takeaways:
1) hire a good creative team
2) test your camera
3) use $100k worth of lights and grip to deal with shortcomings in dynamic range :)
