Why is my footage rendering without background layer?

Why is my footage rendering without the white solid background ?

I created a matte and my footage is rendering out without the layer solid. So I have just a black around my matted image.
On my first layer I have a white solid and on layer two. I have my footage that matted out the unwanted background. So it looks like the actor is on an infinite white cyc.
Everything looks fine in the color window but when I render it out. I have just black around the matte. What step am I missing?
