Why EPIC PELICAN CASE 1510 is not suitable for Scarlet? I thought scarlet and epic have the same form factor. Why cant we use the case with Scarlet?Any ideas?

Pretty sure it will work fine. It just says Epic on it.

Was curious about these also. Are these the same as any other 1510 pelican case? The carry on size cases for airlines? Other than the pre-cut foam of course.

Yea, Just looked at it again in the store, and it will defiantly work for Scarlet. It just says epic on the front.

Yeah, like everyone said, it'll work. I got one and I'm probably just gonna cover the "EPIC" with gaffer's tape or something and then crudely scribble "SCARLET" over it. Lol.

Ditto! Just waiting on the camera itself to ship. I can hardly wait!

Based on what I have read, yes and it seems like it will hold a lot of stuff. You're more than likely going to need to take a decent size backpack to fit some of your kit though. That or check some of it, I suppose.

Or you can get one with the slice and dice foam insert for $150 or so.

That foam sucks bigtime. Have your own foam made for your set of accessories. Cases Plus did my custom foam and it was $100 design fee per case, and the foam itself cost next to nothing. You can choose any kind of foam that you want... it's all 10000000 times better than the 'pick n pluck' foam that comes stock in pelican cases. I check my gear through checked baggage, ship it etc with no question about its safety.

Thanks for the heads up and the recommendation. I've had OK luck so far with the pick and pluck stuff so I'll give that a shot first. If it doesn't do the job, I'll head for Cases Plus!!

They are awesome, man. They're out near Sacramento. Their website sucks, but give them a call. Contact info is at http://www.casesplus.com/ContactUs.aspx

If you're ever up in the North Bay I'm up in Sonoma, you're welcome to come check out their work. I'll try and take some photos of what they did for my DSLR gear. Will have them make new foam for my RED stuff when the Scarlet comes in :)

i'd love to see some photos of it, i'm looking to get some custom foam for my cam when it comes in but I want to make sure it gets done right.

I've travelled with my Scarlet in an Epic case on 6 flights so far - 3 different airlines and carry on hasn't been a problem. Cam and accessories fit fine.

A bit pricey, I may have gone a different route if I'd had more time between delivery of the cam and my first flight (4 hours…).

Okay guys, I just took some (crappy) point and shoot pictures of my foam for the time being... sorry for the bad quality :)

I have a 1510 and 1600 that were customized for my whacky DSLR rig that we used for a couple of years. This is VERY high quality, dense foam from cases plus, can't remember which foam we went with but they have many types. I believe it's cut with a water jet, but it may be milled... it's been so long since I had this stuff made that I don't remember exactly. Custom literally means custom, for those of you asking. I dropped my gear off, showed them how I wanted it to fit in the case, and told them to use any additional space for storage holes. They measured and CAD designed my equipment into the case, even taking into account the parts that would stick up into the top foam, making indentations there if needed. The attention to detail is great - even little finger indentations for grabbing batteries and other parts, like you see with, say, the Touch LCD when it comes in the box from RED. VERY cool stuff. The photos do not do the craftsmanship an foam quality any justice.

For $100/case setup fee and materials (foam was less than $50 per case I think) and about 2-3 weeks that it took from start to finish, I am extremely happy with this stuff. Kind of a shame I'll be throwing this stuff out to replace it with new foam for my Scarlet, but so it goes. I think I'll even bump the 1600 down to another 1510 to keep my scarlet package nice and small.
