Why does my camera default to 23.97 varispeed on boot

Why does my camera Epic D default to 23.97 varispeed on boot, and how can we change this. I've tried unsuccessfully.

What is your project time base set at?

it's set to 23.97. I've tried checking this but it only offers one 23.98 setting, where I get two in the frame rate category. With Varispeed I don't get audio.

This may sound a little far-fetched but, more than once I have accidentally chosen 24.98 as the frame rate selection just because of a brain fart which confused it with 23.98. Just a thought.
