  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

To me this looks like a fun next-generation device you could easily find a use for somewhere on a set. But then again it's pricey and it's version 1.0. What say you?

I hope lots of people buy them, but I guess that's because I'm writing software for it. Haha...

The iPad is very cool. It's so much more than a giant iTouch, which a lot of people like to claim it is. Believe me, it's hard to really understand what it can be until you actually get your hands on one.

i'll get an iPad. i agree. at first glance, it's like a big iPod touch. and that is all it really is. but it is a BIG iPod touch. that's the key. so much screen real estate now.

with apps, i think it's easy to see that it is now a million devices in one. these things will be awesome.

I'm on that boat! Must HAVE ONE NOW! It's a shame I have to jump through so many hoops just because you can't get them anywhere but the states for now -.-

I want to see one and hold one first and particularly evaluate the screen.

I want something that is essentially an e-reader.

So much of the documentation that we use is now delivered in .pdf, and I don't' like reading on a desktop or laptop computer.

If the screen holds up to these aging eyes of mine, it's a no brainer. Particularly given it can run all the industry specific aps that I've purchased.

I thought it was only 4-5 hundred bucks? that's a no brainer. With the 10 hour battery life it's worth it just for one transatlantic flight. Movies, all your books, and your tunes? Saves tons of room on your carry on.

Ordered one online at 5:45 am. It's not for me though, I actually prefer the smaller iPhone screen.

You don't see the many production uses for this thing? Seriously? I only think about it in terms of how it will be used on productions. Talk about it all the time... Like as a camera log, film inventory log, watching dailies, storing/viewing stills and refs...
 
Me if i can read screenplays on it. Kindle no works for that.
 
I'm buying one for a giant post a note to mount on my refrigerator.
 
Definitely getting an iPad. It's the little things that make it useful.

Example: it is very tricky on other viewing mediums to go full screen without black bars. When shooting, we are always thinking about the aspect ratio it will be viewed at and adjusting the parameters to accommodate. With the iPad I feel we are free to shoot as widescreen as we want because if you want the video to fill the screen all you have to do is double tap the iPad and bam, you are zoomed in.

The iPad will be popular because it removes all the steps between your desire and achieving it.
