  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who wants a nikon mount asap?

I don't know if anything official is out regarding that. I'd guess it would be in the ballpark of the RED mount. But it's almost HERE!

If doug wants to sell a large volume of them to red owners he should just sell them for a cheaper price then red.

Doug doesn't need a cheaper price. . . at this point he's the only one with a lens mount at all!

Stephen

Thats fine then Stephen, Doug can charge more or the same then red and when the red version comes out most buyers will go that way. IMHO not the best choice.

cool, sign me up unless reds comes out first.

freakin' awesome.

How fast could Doug make these? Do we need to send him a PL mount to get the conversion done? RED will probably start shipping mounts in a couple weeks, it's anyone's guess as to how fast RED can ramp up quantities though.

Doug quoted me a price but I don't want to speak for him. I will say that It was lower than the Red price.

Having spoken to RED yesterday, I very much doubt it'll be a couple of weeks. I was told 2 months min to actually see mounts if you are not a low reservation number.

Doug also quoted me a price, suffice to say it's ball parked around RED's.

RED told me the very same thing. . . probably "two months."

My guess is that it will actually be LONGER than two months.

Doug is the hero here.

I just faxed the drawings for the mount to my machinists. One said he couldn't even get to the part for four weeks. Fingers crossed on the other. If I can't light a fire under them and get these done by next week, perhaps some of you have some machinists that you regularly use? This part should be CNC milled, so we are looking for a high volume top notch type outfit, rather than a small shop.

If you know of such a place, let me know, as it will help all of us.

PS if I make enough coin from this, I'll buy a RED for my very own.

Doug: I have a HAAS VF1 machining center. The machine is very capable but would have to admit that I am not used to doing these types of parts. Is it mostly just circles and screw holes?

...finally given us a quality Nikon mount! Here's to the Underdahl mount!

Err, can I have that in Canon flavour?
:)

I'm certain it will work just fine in 4K. . . those lenses were made for 35mm film cameras, and that is a much larger piece of film than RED's Super 35mm sensor.
