  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

its sad the first camera from RED that I can't afford :( I want it so bad too cause its lighter, the lighter my RIG the better for my back!!!!

It's one pound lighter guys.... a mile or two of running, a few pushups, some situps, in the long run it's the only way to go.

First of all "CONGRATS" to you Luigi on your ordering the Carbon Dragon... ;)


Then what I like to add here is that "1lb" might seem not much, but if you do hold the camera in your hands as much as I do, and you do make use of systems such as the MōVI, RC Choppers, and other accessories, even that "1lb" will make a HUGE difference, and i do mean HUGE in Upper case, as that "POUND" will make a difference!!

I in fact look forward to the Carbon 9" LCD as well as other Carbon Modules... ;)

Problem is that right now, as I said in an other thread, unless M8 could go under Major Surgery "Carbon Dragon" will not happen for me... :(

Iuse a lot of RED in the free hand, especially in music videos, so I think with a few grams less makes a difference.:biggrin:

...unfortunately only in my dreams.

Thanks RED for giving me just another goal to achieve. One day, i'll play with this one and totally freak out, even if its already completely outdated at that time. ;)
 
I almost "took" it when shooting with it last week. I know a few other who have ordered recently.

A pound may not seem like a lot in general, but there's real viability to that and there's a bit of heritage when it comes to shaving off camera weight. They were able to do it for a few Red Ones, but it's also something other motion picture cameras have done in the past as well.

Also, if you "make a living" on steadicam, or maybe an aerial shooter, or one of these lightweight handheld stabilizer folks. Well one pound is fairly significant.
 
would agree with people, a pound is a lot. Having both an octocopter where it translate into at least a minute or so more flight time, and also the fact I lug it up mountains and volcano occasionally. At nearly 6000m/20,000ft, an epic is heavy. However it's a lot of extra money. I'd just hirer an extra porter next time.

They shaved more than half a pound from the original Epic M's bodies which cost $44,000 at the time.

And Dragon's a got a bit more bite than Mysterium-X from what I can see.

how you found the temperature, lower than in a normal body?
carbon should help.

I was super close to ordering it because the pound would make a huge difference for what we want it for. But... well... I'm still considering it.
