  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Awaiting mail...Next 3rd in the line...5360....Taken delivery January 2009

I'm already marked on the list as red, but I just wanted to let everyone know that my Epic-X was delivered today. RED ONE #2336 = RED Epic-X #420. I couldn't be happier - this camera is truly amazing. RED sure has learned a few things in terms of build quality since the RED ONE.

you got that right...the finish on the epic x and m is beautiful...like it's images they produce.

Red cameras with a delivery date on/before October 2009 were eligible for stage 2, correct? As of now, they're shipping Oct/Nov 2008 cameras. There's an entire year of cameras in line yet, but yet the list being maintained here is closer to the end than the beginning. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I would like to think it's because late RED ONE users didn't sign up for Stage 2 but the reality is probably that a lot of them aren't so hardcore as the rest of the people refreshing this post every 15 seconds and therefore hasn't signed up on this kickass list.

Tony and John, CONGRATS!!!!!!

And as for the small number of high SN on the list... I prefer to think that not everyone was able or had the foresight :) Or maybe it is because I am almost lst on the list (not last to sign the check though) and just want my turn in line!!!

Can you tell I am a weeee bit excited?

There is probably a higher proportion among all R1 owners who bought in to Stage 2 nearer the top of the Stage 2 list than the bottom, as many perceived that it would be competitively advantageous to have an Epic-X early and would, as it worked out in the early days of the Red One, reap an inordinate profit from rentals while the camera was still in short supply. (Unfortunately, for early Stage 2 hopefuls, the Epic-M release threw a wrench into these plans for many.) This theory seems to be borne out as can be seen with a diminishing number of Stage 2 owners among total R1 owners as the you go down the Stage 2 list in this thread, even though conclusions should only tentatively be drawn, since this is a voluntary, informal list only with an unknown correlation to the real total of Stage 2 owners.

Also, we have been repeatedly told by RED that Epic-X production numbers will ramp up significantly as production progresses, but, again, there are no measures or timing on these assurances, so no real conclusions can be drawn, other than that production levels should rise over the Epic-X production run.

Since I am near the top of the Stage 3 list, my biggest question remains whether backfilling of unfulfilled Stage 2 orders will continue until all Stage 2 orders are filled or will continue to be backfilled after Stage 3 commences.
