Who is the youngest Red owner?

Would take a lot to break a RED ONE. It is built like a tank.

The camera body itself is hard to break, but the various attachments (LCD, EVF, etc) are much easier, especially when students are involved.

So you left USC, having a full scholarship, because they did not let you shoot on RED? I'm sorry but that may be the most stupid thing I have heard all day. Sony provides equipment for USC, get over it. You don't throw an opportunity like that. Many, myself included, are working hard to get in there for grad film studies and are wondering how we can afford it, and you had a full ride. Anyways, good luck with your company.

Going to have to agree with you on that one. I think we're missing some crucial elements to this story...

Typical naive LA 20 yr old. The film option he can't talk about (but wishes he could for all of our sake), the big bands he might shoot, all the unimaginable success of his company at such a young age!

I'd scale back the bravado. There's a lot to be said about being humble.

I'd love to see all of this work that speaks for itself. Please post a link, and we can be the judge.

And finally, if this is really true that you dropped out of USC, one of the top film schools, because you couldn't shoot on Red, that will be one of the biggest regrets of your life. There's a big difference in the way people view potential employees when they have college degrees, or they don't. In fact, I just had a conversation with a producer the other day who was saying how there's a lot of kids who forgo college in order to fund their first feature, or buy a camera (it's basically the anti-film school mentality). He said it's short-sighted and a huge mistake, as producers are looking for educated and talented people, not just talented.

We should really get this thread back on topic..... Im pretty sure once scarlet is released, the age bracket for red ownership is guna explode. Im part of it tooo!!! :)

no offense to cool USC guys..
especially if your already out of school and the "IM IN USC, I KNOW EVERYTHING" phase has worn off.. but Why is it.. that there are so many of THOSE guys...

but to the kid who said he dropped out of USC because of camera issues...

im sorry... but im gunna raise the BS flag on this one..

permit thing was BS..

you can shoot all day long on anything you want anywhere you want (except maybe on campus) and not have to tell a single USC soul...

Because it's a private school with a high tuition and people in high places are always able to pull strings to get their kids enrolled. Lots of silver spooners with only a small fraction of talent. Also because they've always been a leading edge film school, with the highest alumni donations and highest success rate of graduates in all aspects of film/TV - being #1 fosters that attitude of "IM IN USC, I KNOW EVERYTHING" Regardless, it's a great school and an even greater opportunity. Anyone still in high school should not hesitate to apply. If you get in, great, if not, there are a million other ways to create and share work. Plus, the graduate program is where its at anyway. Get a bachelors in history and a masters degree in film. UCLA & NYU are awesome. But so is a Canon T2i and Youtube. You don't need school to create. I didn't mean to explode or get personal earlier. It just upsets me when people give something up so freely, especially when I worked so hard to get in. Plus the story sounds like BS anyway and I had to call it out. :cheers2:

This thread is way past its Best Before date.
