Whither Scarlet Cinema?

In one of his NAB interviews Ted mentioned that Epic-S was replacing Scarlet Cinema. Is this true? Is Epic-S replacing both the S-35 and interchangeable 2/3" Scarlet models?

Don't need details or specs or estimated schedules. I am just asking if there is still some form of interchangeable lens Scarlet model on the road map at all for the near future, either the originally planned 2/3" version or some unknown at present new version. Maybe a true S16mm sized QHD or 4k sensor version?

I think he was just saying something in error, the SCarlet Cinema is very much in the works, multiple confirmations from the show floor.

They have the mini-primes there, and I overheard Jarred saying they are working on a Zoom lens, as well as many 16mm zoom lense companies will be making the RED mini-pl mount adapters for their lenses.


Lets put this rumor that the Scarlet 2/3rd Cinema is dead, to bed.

Thanks Zac. I thought that Ted perhaps misspoke in all the excitement. I am still very much looking forward to the Cinema model.

I wasn't expecting a zoom lens for the Scarlet Cinema. It'll be a versatile cam. :arf:

Zac, not to downplay your knowledge of the matter at all. I believe you to an extent, but I would just love to hear an official statement that it is in the works from Jannard or even someone from the RED team...I would sleep better, cause frankly when I heard Ted say that, I was deeply saddened...
