I was just getting my Redrock mattebox. It came packed in foam cut very nicely and I thought on just puttung the package into an existing Pelicase. Has any of you bought the case for the 19mm version and can tell me which Pelicase they are using?

Markus

"The 19mm case we sell is includes fitted foam sized to pelican 1600 (and of course the case is included). If you do not purchase our case, the microMatteBox is shipped in foam that is sized for Pelican 1550

Thanks again

Brian"

Thank you.

Pelican 1550.

Yeah Brian just found out today that unless you buy their RED mattebox case you get the 15mm foam for a Pelican 1550. Kinda frustrating since I already got a 1600, but I guess it does give me extra room to pack more filters and accessories in. I'm thinking about cutting my own foam anyhow because you have to break the mattebox down more than I would like to get it in the case.

On the foam, Matthew is correct on the sizing. The 19mm case we sell is includes fitted foam sized to pelican 1600 (and of course the case is included). If you do not purchase our case, the microMatteBox is shipped in foam that is sized for Pelican 1550

yeah, I have the shipped foam sitting right next to the 1600 case my camera is in and it's obviously smaller

damn it! I wish I'd saw this thread earlier. I remembered it being sized to a 1600 so I bought one today and just dropped in the shipped foam, definitely too small

Isnt the 1550 a smaller case? am I missing something?

1550 Case Interior Dimensions: 18.43" x 14.00" x 7.62"

1600 Case Interior Dimensions 21.43" x 16.50" x 7.87"

id check again

i meant the *foam* was too small.

BUT, i've changed my mind! the foam that ships with it only has space for three filters and I already have 5 (and really want a few more), so I just added some foam around it and...voila!

I bought the 1550 for mine way back when... Perfect fit. However, I wish I would've thought it through a bit more and I would have gone with the 1600. Extra filter storage like Shawn has done would be exactly what the Dr. is ordering here.

Shawn, just so you know, there should be room under the mattebox to store the donuts.

I wanted to go smaller so we bought some Storm iM2300 cases:

This is exactly the configuration I'm looking for. First I made the notorious 1600 mistake, and now that I have the 1550, I feel it is too big. I don't want to be reaching into my pelican for filters, and having to disassemble the rods from the main unit is a real pain.

You're a genius. Thanks!

I ordered my RRMattebox from them in the case. If you check the price with and without the case, it is a no-brainer. That is, unless you want the extra room to put stuff next to the factory foam like Shawn did.
