Both the Red Pro Primes and Zeiss CP.2s are an excellent value. Sure, I always prefer Master Primes, Ultra, or Optimos if the job has a sufficient budget. From an economic and rental rate perspective, I don't see how anyone could go wrong with either set. I probably use and prefer the CP.2s more than the Red Pro Primes because of their optical quality, compact design, and excellent markings. The only lens that really bothered me was the CP.2 18mm, but now that the 15mm will be coming out in a couple of months I think the CP.2s make a solid and very versatile set of glass. Especially considering there is now a 135mm and the two new 70-200 and 28-80 zooms. The biggest drawback regarding the CP.2s is the fact that the two widest lenses, the 15 and 21 are both T2.9 while the remaining set is T2.1. Contrast tends to be lowered when hit with a lot of intense backlight, but I do like the CP.2 flare quality. In my experience, the RPP tends to have an awkward pink element flare. The CP.2 cover full frame and have swappable lens mounts which is a unique bonus. I don't think one set completely blows the other out of the water. I think a lot of it depends on ones shooting style and aesthetic preferences. Love them both.
