I'm in the market for a used Helium and coming from a Scarlet SW. Is anyone able to clarify which model of helium is which? I see there are Epic-W, Weapon and now the DSMC2 line. Are the essentially all the same, just older versions or re-branded? Just looking to find out which model to go with. Thanks for your help!

“Epic-W = 8K 30fps
DSMC2 Unified (and Weapon) = 8K 60fps”
Is this the only difference? So I’m paying over $4000 just for the ability to film 8K at 60fps and 8K WS 75fps. No improved reading of the sensor or better image?

There's other subtle differences across the board due to the increased processing power, I believe LUT resolution being one of them.

But the silly little difference is yes you are getting 2X the frame rates. Which I would say is notable and a deciding factor or not.

Also, an upgrade path supposedly. And that, I have no clue or faith since there was NO viable upgrade path that was offered from DSMC2 to DSMC3 as of yet.

The new upgrade path is buy your new camera, sell your old one!

But there is no way of knowing if an epic w has been upgraded to 60fps, unless the seller states?

Well, if you know how to setup a RED camera, you can easily verify by setting your frame rate to either 60 fps at 8K Full Format (8192 x 4320) or 75 fps at 8K 2.4:1 (8192 x 3456) and capture content. Playback on your NLE will tell you what frame rates are being played back.
