  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where is the new Arri Matte Box + FF combo?

Full announcement coming THIS WEEK. Already shot the photos & video but I'm away for the Jewish holidays and won't be in the office to work on it until Wednesday.

If you have a job this week I would say to rent for a day or two. We'd be happy to fix you up with something.

Me too. Wondering also how the 19mm conversion for the FF could work.

There are several ways you can adapt from 15 to 19, one being RED 15mm adaptor which is a small piece that when attached to a universal mount will allow for 15mm rails to slide in. This method is rock solid and really works but down side is having rails on top of rails pretty much defeats the purpose.

I ordered one of these cheap 19 to 15mm adaptors off of ebay but its a little flimsy and well, cheap...we have a rock solid camera, we need rock solid parts, right!

Ablecine is cooking something up, I will wait for Mitch to make his announcements but I do know they will offer an adaptor that my contacts there say is the perfect thing for making the new arri FF adapt to our REDs.

Much in store.

Cheers

What I'm wondering about is the package- it's made for the EX camera, and so I've heard that it'll only come as a FF-MB & adapter to the EX "kit" for somewhere under $4k. Those of us that are just looking for a follow-focus might have to wait half a year or so until Arri breaks down the kit for just purchasing of the follow-focus.

Is this about right?

Dare I ask if anyone is in the market for just a lightweight MB and wants to split the cost of the kit with me?

Ryan

As I mentioned before, this is a great combo...I played with some early prototypes and was 100% satisfied with the FF and since then they have added parts so I am guessing the production version has improved on an already solid FF for the money, its arri after all.

The MB looks as though it belonged on a RED and the prototype I played with would be ideal for a light weight configuration...with option to clip on but again this could have changed. Pretty sure filter trays were 4x5.65...please dont hold me accountable. Hopefully they changed the side loading trays to top loading or at least make it optional...remember this thing was designed for consumer HD cameras that have the microphone jetting way over so this was the purpose of side loading filter trays.

I know its sold has a bundled MB + FF combo for some time...we will see what Able announces.

Look forward to getting the juice on this setup tomorrow or Friday.

Bad news, I have to attend a funeral tomorrow so it is delaying the announcement. I'll try to get it done for Friday but otherwise we'll have it up ASAP early next week.

if its the Mattebox and follow focus that Arri developed for small chip cams
like the hvx200 then its 3700 list for the kit of MB, FF, and rods/plate, according to the interview on hdfilmtools

Sorry for the delays. Videos are being edited and webpage being prepared. There's a process here that I am only one part of.

Thanks Albert. More to come soon...

Mitch,

Do we have a probable 'to market' date?

Also, any takers for a group buy?

-Sandeep

There is a too market date, but as it is only possible and I can't rely on it I have decided not to get anyone's hopes up. We've missed many expected dates along the way and you would all have been up in arms if I had been posting dates and then not meeting them. I'll be making an announcement very soon, and that will have some solid information in it.

And with prices this low, we'll be fending off orders. No chance of a group buy here, at least not for some time.

Peter, you'll be very interested ... ;-)

Mitch,
I would love to know what is the solution on the 19mm end.
Affordable adapter or simple option.
With the second one you have my visa ready.
