Hey guys,

I'm trying to find R3D Data Manager for Windows, but every time I go to r3ddata.com it redirects me to Red.com, and I can't find where to download it anywhere.

Regards

I ordered Double Data for Windows on March the 17th, and not a single update or news bulletin has been posted since, I'm not holding my breath.

I don't understand why they would stop selling R3D Data Manager before releasing the Windows version? I have a feeling the creator has just disappeared off the face of the earth and not renewed his domain for R3D Data Manager. I really need to download this, otherwise I'll have to scrape by with ShotPutPro v4 (boo).

Got an email back from DoubleData,

Basically,

There is noone who can give you a copy. We made the software and cannot distribute it any longer
.

Great :/

My educated guess as to why it disappeared is that it had 1) Something to do with R3D being a registered trademark of RED Digital Cinema, and 2) Double Data supports R3D and Alexa files, where as R3D Data Manager only worked with RED files, and Al3xa Data Manager only worked with Alexa. Probably didn't want to have 3 different pieces of the same software to manage/maintain/distribute.

This would also explain why all traces of R3D Data Manager have disappeared, while Al3xa Data Manager still seems to be alive and kicking.

Sort of leaves anyone who doesn't already have R3D Data Manager on Windows out of luck. Shotput Pro 5 is very nice but only on OSX, never had much love for Shotput Pro 4.

I'm interested to hear the backstory behind R3D Data Manager's demise.

So for Windows I ended up going with Shotput Pro. Red Station esata straight into my Dell Precision, and used two usb 3 drives to offload to. Seemed to work very well, quite fast and no hiccups.

On Windows, I use a free utility called TeraCopy. It only does CRC32 (no MD5), and doesn't have many features, but it is free, and hasn't slowed down my transfers. It also has an option to take over all copy operations in Windows, so even a drag-and-drop is verified.

Does anyone have a backup copy of the 6.4 installer? I have my serial number, but will be reformatting my machine and need to reinstall it. I've contacted the developer and he needs permission from Red to distribute any copies. I've emailed them as well, but we'll see how far that goes.

I have migrated to Double Data and it is solid (after a rocky start) and doing a fine job.
