  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where in line are we and how manmy ordered?

It's pretty much settled down now. No really interesting information to be gleaned at this point except for pre 8:00pm Nov 3 orders and a similar chart for phone orders but there is no real easy way to estimate how many phone orders were placed. That's something only RED knows.

Gavin, assuming im looking at your chart correctly, an SO of 0953 is a great number right?

Also, I have the PL Mount ordered.
 
dear red-team: this would indeed be nice to know: shall we europeans wire the deposit or await further commands? i would prefer paying the deposit by cc. cheers, thomas

why should they phone you? ...

The Order Process is really easy to understand, innit:

1. You place order. (states your intention to buy a red - this is where you get you Ticket to stand in the Line)
--- no bomb squad rep contact needed

2. Wire/Pay Deposit right away (Shows, you really mean to spend 20K)
--- no bomb squad rep contact needed

3. Deposit gets updated in your Account Balance (this means your Deposit has arrived @ Red)
--- no bomb squad rep contact needed

4. Wait till you're next in the Line and your Cam is ready to ship.
--- no bomb squad rep contact needed

5. When the Cam is Ready to ship THEN a bomb squad rep will contact you to inform about the
details of payment and shipping etc.


As a lot of longtime RED-Users can assure you ... nobody will be forgotten, your money will be safe
and you will get your Cam .... 4 sure

Some people in Europe are just a bit worried because it was not asked to pay deposit when placing order and as there is no news from bomb squads yet they don't want to lose their number in the line. Different process. So they wonder if something went wrong or if it's normal.
 
Don't worry.

The process starts after the 17th when the first units (PL mounts) are allocated, I think it will progress slowly. You will get an e-mail eventually with payment details. Don't expect anything major to happen in the next 4 weeks.
 
What do you mean by "it was not asked to pay deposit" ?

I ordered outta Europe too ... and i chose to make the deposit via bank-wire (was kind of a checker box Credit Card or Bank Wire - i assume that always pops up if you order something in the Red Store) ... Then I got an Order Confirmation and innit I received all the Details for the Bank Wire.
 
By reading this thread it seems that some didn't have this checking option at all.
 
The bottom of all UK (at least) order confirmations state:
Your BOMB SQUAD rep will contact you to confirm your order, arrange payment and discuss shipping and handling fees with you before your order is processed. At that time, your invoice will be updated from US dollars($) to Sterling (£) to reflect the actual total of your purchase.

Amount to Transfer: Please do not transfer funds until your order has been confirmed by your BOMB SQUAD rep.

When I asked about this - because I didnt want to miss the 'deposit boat', Alan Piper said not to transfer money until I've been contacted by the Bomb Squad.

As Spock sais: "Fascinating!" - Different Routines for different countries?
I still think (attention - speculation alert!) this passus applies to the big chunk of money that we pay upon shipping. I think the deposit is due just when you make the order - just to show that you are in it for real. Otherwise RED would probably have tons of Orders from some dudes going "Aww Holy shizzle, that thing now really costs 15K ?!? ... hm ... sorry i haven't read all the info ... can i lease it? Can i pay by instalments? Oh .. ehm .. not? bugger! ... than im afraid i have to cancel my order"
This could seriously increase the Waiting Time for all other Orders ... ;-)

To specifically quote Alan's email to me:
"No need to pay a deposit until we contact you when we start to process your order."

Confused me too - Its not like i wasn't prepared to drop the deposit - but I guess I'm having to wait for a member of the Bomb Squad to get to me. Curiously I ordered one hour after the announcment....
 
I would recommend to any Scarlet purchasers that are paying with cash on hand (so not with a credit card) to wire the money into Red now. That way if there are any issues in the wire process, you get them sorted out prior to having your camera allocated and waiting to ship.
