  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where in line are we and how manmy ordered?

SO or Order Number? Order Number is just a timecode. SO on your order page seems to be the real deal (although includes all orders including non-scarlet orders and is per-order not per-camera.)
 
I'm guessing there were VERY few orders that made it through in the first hour. There were times it seemed like the whole site was totally offline. I'm guessing including all the different variables (phone orders, multiple cams on one order, etc) at play, if you ordered in the 8 PST hour, you are probably in the first 500-1000 Scarlet orders.

*edit*, yeah. SO number is just the chronologically assigned order number for ALL orders on the Red store. It isn't perfect (phone orders, people ordering more than one), but it should give you a pretty good idea of about how many orders have been placed and roughly where you fall. We just need a bigger sample size for Gavin to plug in.

BTW Gavin, seeing your graph and the R-squared number gave me some nasty flashbacks to Statistics for Econ majors and Econometrics :p
 
Put my order in on Nov. 4th @ around 11 PM (EST). My SO # is 0052219.

Really excited for Scarlet!
 
Now that is a helpful data point. 24 hours after the initial orders began, we are less than 1300 orders from Gavin's (which is the current earliest we have). I'm going to guess no more than 2000-2500 Scarlets have been order to date.
 
I see what you're now talking about with the SO. I ordered approx 10.5 hours after the announcement and my SO # is 0051586. Looks like I'm close to within the first 500, should be for the Canon Al mount. Hopefully I may see it for Christmas?
 
Hopefully I'll see it by Christmas as well. I ordered the Canon Ti Package plus a REDmote. The REDmote is on backorder so I'm not gonna expect that anytime soon, haha.
 
SO #0051890, also 4 nov, 21:20 CET/GMT+1. That's 3:20 EST if i'm right.

Gives me some hope i'm still within the 2000. :-)
 
I did mine couple hours after the problem with the red.com/store and when I could get the confirmation - I got the SO# 1111032242040885
What do you guys think about it?

Sounds about right. Guess I'll be seeing it around january or so.... 2700 units is a lot.

The SOXXXX number is the total sales order number of RED and it is based on all RED items ordered....This does not
give you any idea of the number of SCARLETS ordered and your position in the line.

My scarlet Sales order number is Sales Order - SO-0050996 and three days later I placed some order for accesories and sales order number is Sales Order - SO-0052358....

But remember there are 3 TYPES OF SCARLET ORDERS.

Obviously, but how many orders do you figure were Scarlet vs. other. Just looking at mine and few other friends order histories, it seems like Red probably averages ~120 SO numbers a day. With at least a couple THOUSAND in the 48 hours after Scarlet went live on the store, we can probably extrapolate that at least 70% were Scarlet brains. I would guess the rest of the bump is people deciding to place separate orders for accessories later.

Think a little deeper and you start to understand how this can give a very general idea of "where you are in line"...

I am guessing that a lot of you guys haven't taken advanced statistical modeling courses. You don't need PERFECT information to get general trend ideas.
 
I ordered about 8 hours after the bun fight with the server so I assume I'm way, way, way down the list . Anyway I gotta say I'm pretty relaxed about getting it, it will turn up when it does. Be nice if turned up before the end of the year but hey I'm not holding my breath. If would also be nice if it showed up before Chrissy so I can shoot myself getting drunk with Santa & then impress all the relatives & neighbours with 4K rez. But maybe the world isn't ready for that yet & maybe that's the way it should be.

P.S. my number what ever it means is 0051569. I'm sure the 1st numbers are geosat co-ordinates of the buyer , then the other 2 barometric readying, the next wind direction & strength & the final sequence of numbers wether your Bio-rythms are in the ascendency or crashing. So mine are 69, I'd like to know how did they know! ;)
 
My order number is <forget it, signifies nothing> for the basic Canon AL brain only, which was placed at 8.27pm PST (email timestamp), but the order time was then adjusted by Brent to 7.10PM PST - since that was the time I was recorded as calling the Bomb Squad and being told that no phone orders would be accepted that night. So with these adjustments factored in, things could indeed get complicated!

Ach, it'll come when it comes. Probably I'll miss three big eruptions I could have shot with it if I had it... still if all goes well I'll end up with fractional ownership of a Stage 3 EPIC once that's complete, so I can't complain too much! :D

EDIT after reading more of thread... my SO number is 51009 @ 8.27pm before Brent correction.... compare with laurent delaroziere who got 50989 at 8:26pm, that pretty much adds up... 20 Scarlet orders in one minute! Then we have Gavin Greenwalt with 50942 at 8.17pm... 87 orders (almost certainly all Scarlets) in 42 minutes.

This seems to spell relatively good news... I might even be in the first couple of hundred or so!!
