  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where in line are we and how manmy ordered?

0606

Anyone named theirs yet?

I'm naming after a childhood hero, so I'm thinking Hextall. (Ron Hextall)

0844 if this is real? I doubt it. The order was placed 6½ hours after the 6pm announcement. If I get my cam before 2012 I consider myself lucky.

My guess is that the store is set for Central time or something because I got my e-mail back at 12:23AM EST which would have been 9:23PM PST. That makes sense to me. It seems like I ordered after some of you guys though.

Also, I think that I am going to steal that idea of naming it after a childhood sports hero and name it "Stieb" (big Blue Jays fan). :D

Yeah.... I don't think the last 4 digits mean anything. Or at least I hope they don't.

Mine was 8:17PM PST and I'm in the high 200s. And I started at 7:05 or so when the server went from the "Offline" to a just locked up unresponsive coma haha. So maybe it was nice enough to register when your session began (although I doubt it, which really adds an even greater "luck of the draw" aspect as to what random window of server consciousness let your order slip through haha) but

The time thing is kind of odd. You're right I Just noticed that I got confirmation at 8:17 PST but my timecode is 22h which is a 2 hour time difference. Nick if you're EST and it was 12:23AM then your timecode should have been 11-11-04 00:23:23, so it's also in central time. Also your number is lower than mine but an hour later. So further evidence that the last 4 numbers mean bupkis. Especially when you consider James was 10 minutes after me and was evidently the third person to order.

If I had to guess it's just

YY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS "0" [###Microseconds]

It's a descending order. No reason to break form on the last 4 digits and I'm sure the ordering system is HIGHLY unlikely to register two orders in the same 1/1000th of a second.

Everybody's 4 digit # starts with 0 since 1,000 microseconds would just tick off another second.

So you go 0998, 0999, 0000.

Kind of an oversight really on the part of the developer :P

Unless you are right in assuming that it tracked when your session began. I got another Scarlet-X in my cart without accessories that I cancelled later as soon as was humanly possible as far as I'm concerned. I was refreshing the red.com/store/scarlet page pretty much constantly from the beginning of the event. If that's the case then I think it's entirely conceivable that I might have been the 130th person to start a session.

Or you could be right and it might mean absolutely nothing. I'm not stressed, just happy that we're going to get a Scarlet!

I'm 099.9% confident though that it's just milliseconds (with a padded 0). Why have the entire number be based on the completion time and then have the last 4 digits tracked somewhere else.

Hehe, that does mean that you decided to buy a Scarlet before me though. :P

The real question though is: James do you really think there is a chance you're #3?

0637 - ordered after I left the event. (had to get some color work done)

I can't be sure, but people at the event might have priority in receiving cameras. A nice notion for those who flew in from out of town. (I didn't fly in, from LA)

Was there any mention of a timeline for shipping?

Booo! Most of the LA people probably just happen to live in LA. They got to see the event live not through twitter, touch the camera and priority shipping? ;) Some of us battled that server for hours haha!

Yes, battling away at past 3am in the morning here, could't get past order confirmation.....!@£$%^&*()!!!. Even emailed an order to RED Europe but not possible.

Oh well, good luck to RED and those that managed to place an order, I'm sure Scarlet-X will be a fine camera.

Oh we battled the servers too for a while. It was a little tense in there for a bit. Frustrating when the technology failed as we literally could have handed the money over to Red at the event. But it was a server attack and out of everybody's control.

I was on REDUSER through the entire Canon event all the way up to their punch line but I lost the connection and missed the whole RED announcement battling the server. My first info on scarlet was from photography Bay well after ordering had started. I managed to order two Scarlets at 8:43 PST with a number of 0423. Wow it looks like a unbelievable camera.

The last four digits of the order number can't mean anything in regards to where you are in line - as much as I wish they did.
Took me about 90 minutes to get through on the site and place my deposit... and the last four digits of my order number are:

0001

Trust me, I wish you guys were right.
:)

1 here...ordered around 10:30pm. Can't wait to get...been excited about Red since I saw their booth at nabshow '06. Even had one of the girls outside of the Booth take a pic of me standing in front of the Red banner..! =)
