  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I was originally looking at the Epic-S, so the more expensive the Scarlet gets, the more it seems it will be the camera that I was looking for. I already set aside the estimated $12k-$13k so I'm hoping there will be something for me in that range.
 
We'll assume that "u" means "you?". Also, one question mark works to tell us it's a question. Thank you!
 
I have around 23K on my side, the question is: Is it a fix or interchangeable camera...


Fix: 10-12K
Interchangeable: 12-14K
 
Are you guys talking about the whole KIT here? , bomb evf, 5 inche, handles, redmotes, DSMC side grips, lenses... etc etc etc.... or just the body for these prices ?
Because I tell you this... Accessories is what makes any camera become more expensive... irrespective of brand.

I'm just hoping for you scarlet guys on a budget, that these cameras get sold ready to go... one price kits. just charge the batteries up and go. But odds are your body is cheap to buy, but buy the time you stick REMOTE, EVF, Side grips, Canon mounts etc on it ... you have just doubled the cost of it.

Start saving... ( oh and order your accessories now!!! )... its a long long wait.

Last time we heard from Ted when he was talking Scarlet he was indicating a price of around $7000 for a usable setup, I would suspect the price has slightly increased but if it's over $10k it will knock out a lot of first time red users who do not have the Pro funds which this camera will allow them to gather in order to eventually get an Epic or similar.

We still dont know, what the offer is...lenses are the most expensive for the camera but if the Scarlet has the fix lens, looks it better for most.
 
What will make it or brake it for me is not the price (at these listet prices at least) but the specs. I expect something better then what was offered 3 years ago. If that means a reasonable higher price that's fine. But time, and incrising price levels must bring something worth the extra wait and money. If not... I don't know - I'll probably wait.

Take it easy Arnold. Ruben and Sheri are two of the more positive and enthusiastic members around here. They're excited. Getting on them for punctuation isn't necessary. We are all just excited for the camera release. That ok??? ;)

I agree. Specs come first, then the price (if price hike is reasonable, let's say 20-30% over Ted's 6k prevision from earlier this year).

IF anyone is concerned about Scarlet pricing, SIMPLY WAIT for the BLACKFRIDAY SALE!

For the Scarlet buyers that are stretching on price point: pray that Canon announces a low price on their N3 offering. Price is the only variable in the N3 RED release at this point. In poker, it's always nice to see the opponents hand before committing to a bet. I don't see RED leaving any money on the table when the dealin is done.
