  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What monitoring LUTS do you like to use?

Hmm Ive never heard of Omeneo, I gotta check those out. I've heard the truecolor one's mentioned before... curious how those actually perform & how close they get to alexa in a variety of scenarios on day & night exteriors & interiors...

Omeneo Primers are excellent for onset use. They are one of the few transforms that are designed to give you the full picture of what your camera is capturing. Dynamic range and color balance are primary concerns with Primers which is exactly what an onset viewing LUT should be doing. Creative style LUTs like film emulations are cool but if you are concerned with image fidelity during acquisition the Primers are hard to beat.

Phil Holland's PHFX PhilmColor LUTs have a lot of good thought behind them:

Cheers for that Marc.

For those who are just looking for a dash of color without a LUT imposing too much of a curve or other effects, use the ghostStocks to enhance skin or remove a green color cast induced by lighting or ambiance or gremlins.

Though all my IPP2 LUTs are designed to play nice within the current pipeline and color RED ecosystem of Output Tone Map and Highlight Roll-Off combinations, those are indeed the most "color science-y" sort of thing.

You can use the other LUTs in there too (baseStocks, achromics, toneAdjusts, printModels) but they will have a stronger effect, which is either more of a reason to use them or not depending on your goals for the shoot.
