  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is the latency of video tap output on Epic?

To anyone using FSI monitors. They also have a delay, which can make the epic delay seem worse. Turn on Fast signal processing on the monitor to turn off this delay. It has no impact on IQ.

Thanks for this... I'd never noticed that option in the menus... great to know!!

On the Red One and Alexa I normally operate using my HD-SDI monitor (Transvideo CineHD 6.5") but I have been using a Scarlet on a movie for the past week and the delay is enough to ruin shots. Whenever the shot calls for actors to stand or sit I have to operate from the 5" touch screen which seems to not have any delay. The delay is also causing hell for my focus puller when he has to pull using his monitor.

Is everyone just accepting this or is there a way to fix this issue? I'd like to have the option to prioritize the HD-SDI before the Brain LCD for latency.

We too have been struggling with this, yes the audio can be delayed, or as we have done is transmicomtekfrom the embedded audio, but pulling focus or operating remote head is out of the question.

I still have a delay in fast mode, not as bad but still obviously there. Interestingly it is being fed from a loop thru on a smallhd dp6 that is perfectly in sync.

But there is no delay difference when sound is fed trough camera and out trough BNC to monitor, or?

Not that I have noticed at least. But normally I don't have to deal with sound. :)
