  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is read from an .rmd into Resolve?

I think so.... You can call Blackmagic and ask - they have actual smart people answering the phone there.

Are all parameters (specifically including curves) now properly read?

Simple as that...

Gunleik

Yes, they are. But I'm a bit conflicted about implementing the curve values, because even though they're properly applied, the curve control is not exposed in the Resolve interface, so there's no way to undo or change any of the curve settings short of hand editing the RMD file. I've already mentioned this to them, and others likely have as well. A simple "use curve" button in the Red settings window would probably be sufficient in most cases.

hey Mike!

Thanks for the as usual precise and useful answer! I was wondering, do you know how to control Red settings via a surface (i.e. Tangent?) I can't seem to get that menu to display.

Red settings on Resolve are not mapped to panels, and I believe that includes the DaVinci panels. They are part of the configuration options, not part of the basic tool set. Even though they are available on a per shot basis, they are not directly accessible controls. At least not on version 8.

the resolve panel does have RED settings mapped on the panel (all of them except for the gamma curve and colorspace)... very very very useful ..make things very faster ...
i will never stop to say how much the resolve panel is a massive % of the resolve system value ...

That's good to know. Personally, I've never really had the need to change them that regularly. Having said that, I do enjoy having them mapped on the Baselight Blackboard...
