  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is EPIC?

hee hee, I guess being the owner of just a bomb EVF so far makes be a distant relative for now

EPIC EPIC EPICCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

I don't know if you have noticed this Jim, but last few years, after the release of the RED ONE a lot products from AV/FILM/Tele industry started to see RED.....
Products became reddish, or red implied, articles became red..... whatever, and now a lot EPIC seems to appear every where.

I just read an article in one of the well known industry magazine and it grabbed my attention by the headline, footage of Epic proportions or something like
that, so I started reading and it was about an edit program and the EPIC proportion of footage shot on a F... that needed to be edited.

You get the drift???? Ha ha ha

EPIC is EPIC its a RED EPIC.

Please keep doing what you and your team has done so far, believe what you are doing is not just right but simply of EPIC
proportions for the entire FILM/TV world.

When you buy RED, you become part of the family. I think this is what really separates us from everyone else.

Jim

Absolutely true, and support is second to none!

It's remarkable how close the current Epic body design looks to the design sketches and models Jim showed us when we first met him.

I cannot wait to become part of the RED Family. I've just jumped into full-time freelance work and am doing everything in my power to be ready for when EPIC-S launches.

Thanks so much for the hard work you guys have done and continue to do! You're helping make dreams reality.

Our sensor program is A++. Just wait until you see what we have coming... it is mind blowing. And every RED customer benefits.

Can't wait to see what the next gen sensors bring. Would love sky-high ISO's and even more DR. With RED, at least we know whatever is coming -- it won't disappoint.

The One was amazing. The One M-X was incredible. I can't wait to get my hands on an Epic-X. I just wonder how much better a sensor can be?

EPIC is build by true visionaries.
EPIC is build with the best intentions.
EPIC is a dream that came true.

Thank you so much for doing what you're doing, it's a joy to follow you. I look forward to become a member of the RED-family. :)

I don't think the cinema world has a clue to what's going to happen when Scarlet is released. There are some really talented folks who obviously couldn't offord shooting on film or heck not even on Red 1. There is simply no excuse to not being able to capture images that are breath taking. Red has taken me to places I would of never seen. Thank you and please release the beast already!

EPIC is the least expensive and easiest professional motion camera to post.

Have to disagree with this one - that spot is still owned by the MXed RED ONE...

RED ONE is the best camera purchase I've ever made - not only because it's a great camera, but because it has been a great teacher, bringing me into new realms of imaging. Don't get me wrong, but EPIC-M is a fine, fine imaging system, and I couldn't be happier with it.

But RED ONE has been more than a camera, it's been a process, an education, and a teacher.

EPIC-M is a fabulous, unbelievable product and I have big plans for it. But the RED ONE has been a fabulous and unforgettable journey.

Longer than expected... :-)

Actually just under 3 years.

Jim

I get the feeling - on no evidence, just a feeling - that the RED ONE was the totally usable working proof of concept... but EPIC is the real deal, the camera that was in your head, right from the start, when you first started thinking about doing this.

The coolest thing is having this one "almost" done and knowing what we have ready for the future. The team is unbelievable. The library we have built the last 3 years will serve us and our customers well.

I was a consultant for SONY for a while, which is why I still have a room full of Japanese equipment, mostly now unused. Red is a completely new kind of company; their way will inspire customer loyalty that should turn into long term success. I hope Red survives the transition from Jim's baby to profitable business. Because of the amazing products being developed every day, I'm sure it will. Thanks to this forum, and the unique style of customer inclusion, we're all along for the ride.

Which is interesting, because I remember the first 5K Epic body design that eventually got scrapped in favor of the current modular effort, much of it based on customer feedback.

You guys did a great job of incorporating even more advanced and flexible functionality in to the concepts that Jim has obviously had for a long while now.

I know that the inclination to "stop and chat along the way" has been diminished (much of it due to people here who don't understand the 'process' here, IMO), but the open dialogue during the devlopment efforts has been fascinating.. and I love these sorts of threads. I certainly feel it's part of what has built such a sense of community here.

Thanks for not only the product, but the journey. Hoping that the Scarlet Fixed will be the point where I stop becoming an rabid follower, and instead become a rabid owner. :)
