  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What happened to Element Technica?

I noticed that last week too.

Edit: And, since this thread started, (maybe before) every time I went to their website, I got an "unsafe" warning. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

I had a meeting with them last week. they are moving away from camera stuff. We will try and take over the RED related products they made and bring them back in house but that will take a while.

And before the rumors start... there is nothing negative about this. Pizzo and Hector are incredible and I consider them family. Pizzo is still consulting for other companies in the film market designing stuff and he actually is spending most of his time shooting now and is capturing some really incredible stuff which I will always support over any financial considerations. Hector started making stuff for a very big company in a different sector and he did such a good job they keep going back for more and has consumed the bulk of his time.

When we helped them break off from the other company they were with a few years ago I was very clear that they were to run the ET company as they intended without influence or control from RED.. and they could do whatever they wanted. They still made products for competitors cameras and they moved into their own facility.

So its a bit of a transition... we will take over manufacturing the RED stuff and of course take over the warranty of their products already out there and see if we can hire some of their staff to come back over to help as they pivot, but its gonna take some time for us to sort out the pieces.

Jarred. Thanks for taking the time to write this up. I think they made great gear and I have two of their gold mount plates for DSMC2. Glad to hear you all will be taking over a lot of their products. And luck to both of them!!

Wow, interesting and ultimately good news I suppose for everyone involved. Thanks for the candid update Jarred.

P.S.. this is what Pizzo's been working on ... Hope if you can that you can encourage him to follow his new passion.

Of course selfishly I wish he'd stay but I have great admiration for anyone , at the top of their game, who decides to try something new.

I always wondered who did this type of work (RE: Tree of Life). Thanks for all the info!

Love every bit of ET gear I've owned over the years. They've always been very supportive and helpful, best wishes to them.

Always loved what Pizzo and Hector did at ET, from the ATOM 3D days to most recently with RED aks and was fortunate enough I guess to get one of the last produced accessories for the Weapon... :)

Oh, and in the back there is a load of work been done, ET is as busy as ever and in possession of some absurd new CNC Machinery.

Their ultra rods are still the best IMO. Nothing comes close to weight and performance.

I'm chasing one of the Arri Dovetail plates made specifically for the Oconnor 1030D... is there anyway possible to get one of these? or are they gone forever?

Ned you're right about those rods. They're incredible.

I too was trying to get the 1030 dovetail they told me they were originally discontinued. However, they were thinking of doing another small run. I sourced one from someone else but was called and emailed that they had completed a small batch back April/May so like 7+months ago. They may stil have them around. I would keep calling and emailing, took me several months to track one down.

I was about to pull the trigger on a discounted RED One Element Technica 15mm Baseplate before the website shut down. Jarred, Is there any way for me to purchase one still?

Really loved ETs products these last several years. I've got a whole micron collection and was just looking to pickup another 15mm shoulder pad piece... :emote_headwall::emote_headwall::scared::scared::scared::scared:

Jarred, does that mean that I can get ET gear from RED in the future? Merry X-Mas //Johan

Really wish ET was still doing those wood grips for the side handle. They were slick.

GDU made some extremely similar ones, but I would love it if Red decides to make some additional options available for the side handle.

I have an ET 19mm hybrid bridge and an ET 19mm lens support bridge I'd be happy to sell. PM me!

The ET weapon cableless gold mount is the BEST and I guess not made anymore, extremely well made and solid, 2 2-pin lemos AND a ptap so 3 power-outs total, and ALWAYS has has displayed battery info in-camera even throughout all the firmware builds where other manufacturers plates have had lots of issues

ps- some places seem to still have a few :
