  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What do you think about the supply rate ?

I completely agree Francesco. I cancelled my order as well and since sold my products which I did receive from RED. Don't get me wrong, I am going to buy when the cam is available, and our studio is currently designing gear around the cameras, but I just couldn't wait without knowing or getting real knowledge.

I also think I will wait for the Dragon sensor upgraded bodies at this point.

Just curious, Jeffrey... what is your SO number? Mine SO is 0984 so I don't expect to receive the camera until a least January. It is fine for me to wait but any sense of an ETA I can conjure up would be nice. Thanks :)
 
Wow... I don't know what to say. Wait I do... people be crazy! I'm very high up and understand it could take a while... honestly couldn't care less, I want this camera, though can make due with what I have, and I'm patient enough to wait for what I truly want.

oh and the price rises significantly after the first of the year so canceling and buying dragon's.... going to cost you!

have a good one and take it easy, there is no such thing as perfection in this world, so give people the benefit of the doubt, or wait until there is no doubt left (though most likely there will be a significant price increase if you do wait) choices they are yours to make, and if you do it wrong it's only your fault so please don't take it out on others.

P.s. In my opinion it's not the right time to complain yet, I'll admit the signs aren't good but it's still to early to jump on them for anything... so I say take it easy enjoy the holiday.... heck even valentines day and if after that it's still not looking good then these threads would make sense but as of now we have a timeline so lets just wait and see how it pans out.... or not, it's up to you!

I'm 0945. I'm hoping the first couple weeks of January.
 
I have to admit. The idea of canceling now and planning on ordering again later, all so you can get your deposit returned (???) sounds completely irrational to me. Of course, I recognize that it is totally one's own decision, but I just can't understand what the motivation would be.

Let me get this straight; you cancel your order now, get your $1500 or $2000 (?) back, put it in your savings account (and earn $3 per month in interest), order the camera again in what, 6 months? That means you'll pay at least $2000 more for the brain/SSD module/mount plus additional increases for various modules. Of course, you do earn $15-20 in interest while your waiting!! Hmmmmm... oh well, like I said earlier - I get to move up one slot. :smiley:

This is just a very simple question with a simple answer but sometimes simple things get complicated and the reason is simple...:emote_head_explode:
 
Are you guys really expecting your Scarlet to get to you 4-5 months from now? Some are even saying a year. People should stop treating the situation as if each order is custom tailored for each purchase, it's all cookie-cutter builds. No matter how much you love and love to defend RED, 4-6 months is unacceptable for any company.

i´m 2417, summer 2012 maybe ??? but it´s the canon ti mount so it eventually may took a little longer... :-(
 
To give perspective... 300+ cameras out there, and they started production in November... 150/month ain't that bad considering it's their ramp up -- i.e. they haven't hit their stride just yet. Apparently February will see things picking up a lot. But yeah, Q1-Q2 was the expectation if you got your order in on day one (if you are < serial # 1000 and your order is Titanium PL... January-February will be happy months for you :)).

If anything, I'd say the Canon mount will be what holds up a lot of cameras -- the damn thing doesn't seem to want to come out in volume. Ah well, I'm sure RED's tech wizards will work it out before long. ;-)
 
Honestly I think the supply rate is unacceptable right now. Especially accessories wise... It was a problem when the first Red one was out.....and we are still facing those kind of issues 5 years later?. Yeah, yeah...I know things will get better soon (but I have heard that several times over the year) i unfortunatley have no faith in the February timeline. I would not be surprised if in two months we hear that things will be out of back order by the end of 2012..... Yeah I am bitching and whining...and yes I'll get over it.... I am gonna go shoot something now on my incomplete Epic X so I can feel better... ;-)

Weird, nobody told me nothing, except for "we are gonna be out of backorder in february".

Bingo. The only credible info we have is whatever Jim, Jarred, et all have told us. No more, no less.

Clearly, some folks are being cautious not to get their hopes up too high. Do whatever it takes to get though the day, but just remember who you are dealing with here. The same guys who wowed you with their development are now focused on fulfillment; a much more straight forward and predictable process.

I have no problem taking them at their word RE: back orders and February. Demand and new order volume could still suprise them, but scaling manufacture is simple relative to R&D.

But unfortunately that credible info has slipped and got delayed several time....you really can't blame people for thinking that it's gonna take much longer especially with RED's delivery record. I certainly hope the February timeline is for real! :)
