  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What a great time...

I remember opening the RAW file for this image. I think it was the turning moment for me when I decided I wanted a RED camera. It was the same feeling as when I downloaded that guitar player in the desert footage from the HVX many moons ago :)

more like this remember :)

C'mon Jim & Jarred show us some Dragon. You know you want to! Force the competition to stop what they're currently doing and go, "Oh shit, they did it again..."

At a right time at right place...............Yes I own a Red Scarlet camera.......Yes ..Now I am dealing with 4k raw, please hold us to the high end professional level.
Thank you

RED (and JJ, JL & GN) has given my so called `career´ a tremendous boost for which I cannot be grateful enough.

I have owned my share of cameras over the years, but there has always been this option lock between equipment cost and image quality.
RED has resolved this issue once for ever by introducing the best (not only IMHO) AND most affordable state-of-the art tools for our field.

Red is the underdog in company size - but IMO Red is the industry's top dog in terms of foresight, innovation, progression, and disruption ;-)))

To the other digital cinema camera makers: "If you can't run with the underdog, just stay up there on the porch!"

They say it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog... which to me makes RED overdogs :-)

Mike

you know which company I put my money on

;)

fight ain't over yet..... definitely witnessed the most exciting rounds thus far.

can't wait for Red to go IMAX

just like how Panavision saved the film industry by creating a better format than 4:3 to draw people away from TV, same could be said about RED and 3D next my guess would be IMAX.

Images need to be larger then LIFE

The underdog gambit. It could become a road too well trod.

Politicians have been embracing it for a good while because it by and large it has worked. The related catchphrases, "mandate", "humble servant" and "grateful for your trust" have also come in for their share. These all risk becoming tainted by association with politics like the word "reform" has become.

Identifing as the underdog might be in turn legitimately adopted by ex-film outfits like ARRI, which may not for too much longer remain the apparent behemoths that people might believe. Just where Panavision fits into the future mix could be interesting.

...

Expect that the world of cinema-photography will change even more in the next few months/years. More performance at lower prices in a smaller package.

You win.

Finally...

Jim

My first thought when reading this was that the Epic (or NEXT) will become smaller and lighter, and therefore require a new Brain that still accepts current and future modules. If that be true, would RED allow the same trade-in program that existed when the Epic replaced the R-1?

I really hope the above comes to pass. A smaller, more agile but powerful camera would come closer to being worth its weight in gold.
