  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi,

Im a steadicam op and I have my first job with the Red in a few days (last minute job :-) )

Anyway I was just wondering if there was anyone that could tell me how much the rig will weigh? We will be using a fairly RedOne Diet setup, Camera body, lens and battery plus a FF motor. No mattebox needed for the shots I am doing.

I was also hoping I could power the camera from my steadicams Vlock battery power system. There is a two pin Lemo plug on the sled and the cable ends in an arri power type 4 pin XLR. I know the Red dosnt have a standard 4pin XLR power input but is it likely that the hired bundle will have any kind of adapter? Cutting the redbrick out of the camera would really help.

Thanks very much for any help, and I am very jealous of anyone that has their own red. Maybe for christmas :-D

You might want to check if they want to use the RED drive with your set-up (I just mounted it with tape to the body). This will add some more to the system. Also be sure you can power your FF of your sled and not off the camera - I've been having some power issues with two different RED's, not being able to power my BFD/M-one with RED acc. power. Also incase you do use a clamp on MB with your RED zoom, the focus might tighten realy up if you tighten the MB to much to the lens. The total weight depends on your rig. I just flew our RED-edition ActionCam last weekend with RED, Raid, RED lcd, BFD/M-One, RED 18-50 and RED-cage as counter weight. The hole thing was at least 15kg - RED is not as light as one might think:)
Fly safe.

Hi, Thanks for the attachment but it wont let me view it, it keeps telling me to log in, and after I have it asks me to log in again.

How much does the brick weigh?

I did some tinkering with my steadicam system and I can safely fly about 10kg on my sled with two batterys down below. Thats just over 20lbs and if the camera is 10lbs I recon Ive got enough spare power to support all the extra gadgets.

You think a diet redone will come in under 10kg? Just body, lens, battery FF motor and the monitor?
