  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So I am having some weirdness. When I start up the camera the first time, the screen flickers and jumps around a bit. This goes away after leaving the camera on for a few minutes. Happens on all monitor ports with both Wooden Camera top plate as well at the Red pogo adapter. Tried different cables. Will be doing a bit more investigating and possibly making a support ticket. Seems like a firmware thing. Camera is fine after it "warms up."

Anyone else?

I am using my Viewfactor APU-IDX plate and running a cable to my standard module. I have a Wooden Camera Blueshape plate on order. I am definitely noticing that my batteries are only lasting about half of what they should be. Just a bit annoying. I assume a proper battery plate will rectify this.

Hmmmm ... It's hard to debug possible issues without rocksteady/QA by RED power configuration. I wouldn't allow config like that to connect to my cameras, I know a lot of people disagree with me on this point though.

Jarek,

I am noticing some laggy lcd (7 " touch) performance the first 1 min. or so after start up. touch screen is not totally responsive and changing settings can be a pain until like after what you say is a min or so after being on. After which its fine. Although I am noticing a intermittent missed frames or laggy output on all outputs during normal use.... Touch operations work fine but the feed has these hiccups... I'll wait to see if others are having this before I panic too much.

I'd drop a ticket on your issue, Taylor. Intermittent missed frames isn't normal. My Weapon showed an issue where the LCD screen would periodically seize up during filming - if I pushed any button, it would stop, and there was no data loss. But after I dropped a ticket and some camera logs for the engineers to study, they recalled it and fixed it up good as new.

That's the best way for everyone to get de-bugged faster. If you ignore these issues, then the engineers don't get the feedback from the users to tweak and improve things for everybody.

Meryem,

You are correct! And if this problem persists I will be sending in a ticket. Right now I am going through my own testing as I have a feeling it is possibly a firmware issue on my end. The laggyness presents itself more when my 512 mags (red) get close to full. Not sure why this would be the case. Thanks

Yeah, I've noticed what seems like a dropped frame on LCD and monitors but I don't believe it's present on my r3d files. I've been seeing weird things on my monitor but from what I can tell it's a monitoring thing.

Ive actually noticed this on my Scarlet-W as well. I think its the autoblack shade. It happens occasionally when I start recording quickly after jumping to HFR or when the camera has just been turned on. I was considering making a post about it. I do have once clip on where you can see the frame drop (?). But I think it corolates to when the sensor BS goes from Red to yellow or yellow to green.

I'm definitely having glitchy images on the monitor as well. Happens on the WC plate and Red lemo adapter. I thought my 7" screen was shitting the bed, glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

Update...it happens even without touch and on an SDI monitor attached to the base expander...

could you guys check it out too? thanks!

hopefully it's a firmware bug??

maybe related to the recent updates on open gate fronts?

Anyone figure out what's happening with this? I've noticed it on playback of footage as well.

This is defintely a processor thing when the camera is calibrating the black shade. Try switching frame rates and watch the temp gauge. It doesnt happen after the cam gets calibrated.
