  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon System Demo (Full Auto 120fps)

The footage doesn't offend me at all. Not as the Drew666 avatar at least.

Its Drew599, not 666. I know it would be so much easier for the haters to see me as evil instead of right.

The Declaration of Independance is very important to many Americans. It symbolizes the struggle our founders of this country had to go through in order to be free from tryanny. Even though it's over 200 years old the words written in it still ring true today.

Im sorry that most of you Europeans see guns as the source of all the is evil. But if it wasn't guns people were killing each other with it would be knives or swords. It's just the nature of evil...it always finds a way. I just try and be ready for it so I can fight back and not be a victim. As the saying goes, when good men do nothing evil prevails.

I'm glad everyone likes the footage so much I'm really interested to see how it's recieved at the trade shows.

‘‘The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.’’
— James Earl Jones, Actor

‘‘Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States’’
— Noah Webster, 1888

‘‘The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police.’’
-- Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!" Ben Franklin

John F. Kennedy: "Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom."

The footage looked good to me, but then again I thoroughly enjoy my right to bear arms.:gun:

No,

everybody sensible, also Europeans, knows that it's not the gun wich kills the people. But having easy access to a device which makes killing possible with literally just a finger snip makes killing a lot easier.

To be ready to fight back when evil comes over you shows a lack in confidence into your society and a certain amount of paranoia. Im not a big fan of Michael Moore but his film Bowling For Columbine seems to stay on valid ground.

I love the US, adore the sheer power of this great country, the vitality and impressive culture impact you guys have on this planet. The apparent inconsistencies are the soil which is vital for a lively culture. The US have plenty of soil in this regard. I'm saying this with a slight feel of envy because the society I live in is fully based on consensus. Big issues like guns for everyone or captital punishment are out of question. Ironically this is kinda boring. It's like in Dante's Devine Comedy - only the Hell is really worth reading... Perhaps owning a deathmaker gives your live a more intense touch, risk, a beloved damocles' sword, the danger of self-fulfilling prophecy... Ok, that's pretty OT now.

If I consider all this, I should have known that finding guns not nice is a huge political offense and I surely better have kept my mouth shut.

Kind regards,

Hans

Hans,

Not OT, just obvious. Thanks for your post.

The actual Germany is a good example for any community anywhere. I lived there in several german towns more than 8 mounths. Your country is a model of civilization.

I kinda loathe the second amendment argument that gun fanatics and the arms industry hides behind. The likelihood of an armed uprising against our own government is about a million to one now- which is what the original framers of the Constitution intended. And I'd imagine they would be even more appalled if they saw gun porn like this. The irony is it also derives from English law which now expressly forbids the possession of firearms in the UK.

Sorry, completely respect your work and the technical beauty of the cinematography but the underlying philosophy it portends is quite disturbing.

I live in the USA. I don't own a gun. But I support the right to own one.

Part of the reason the founding fathers wrote down guidelines for the future is so that future citizens wouldn't forget the lessons learned in the past.

You don't have to look too far back in American history to find a good example of why we have the 2nd Amendment. Take a look at the Battle of Athens, Tennessee. The short version: In 1946, in Athens, Tennessee, the ruling well-armed elected authorities wanted to maintain control and used intimidation during the election to do so. Armed citizens fought for their right to vote, and won.

I'd love to live in a world where we don't NEED weapons, but I don't believe that taking weapons from the hands of law abiding citizens will create that utopia.

Like I said before, I don't own a gun, but I have been taught how to use one, and therefore I respect them. Just as I was taught how to drive and respect an automobile. I believe that if you teach a child (of the appropriate age) about guns, they will be much less likely to do something dangerous, like pick up a neighbor's gun.

These are only my opinions and not meant to be any kind of directed attack at anyone's opposing opinions.

I do find Drew599's avatar a bit creepy, but I'd never argue his right to use it. His camera work is very good.

You can kill someone just as easily with a knife and there's no sound when its being used. I've had friends stabbed in bars and they didn't even know what had happened for a couple minutes because of the fight going on in there or because they might have been in shock. After England banned guns they banned knives. Next on their list I'm sure will be base ball bats. It won't change anything. People will kill others regardless of what weapon is easily available.

I have a different view on society...the realistic one. The world is a violent place and no matter where you go your going to have crazies trying to kill or whatever. I'm just as ready as I can be. You can protect your life many times but lose it only once. Oh, and Michael Moore is a douche bag.

To keep this on topic. I used a ND .6 and Tiffen's Hot Mirror for most of the shots. I think I might have taken the ND out for the back lit shots.

Wth?!!! Where the hell are you living?!

no comment.

You're right. No particular comments to add. It's really sad. :(

You obviously have never had anyone try to kill you.

The world is an ugly place and a beautiful place all at the same time. Travel more, you might be surprised by what you see -- it won't all be good if you open your eyes.

the world?.. pardon me.. not mine.. fortunately not the world of some of us.. maybe yours on the other side of the atlantic.. seems you need some urgent help.

Wise words.

FYI Jeff Kilgroe, I travel enough. You won't find the same in old Europe. It looks as though your guns don't keep your asses safe.

I find it quite ridiculous to have Europeans lecturing Americans on how to maintain a stable democracy and what is needed prevent the rise of authoritarian governments....

I don't care where you are, there are dangerous people out and about. So your saying that there aren't any crimes where you live, no murders. Wow you truly do live in a utopia.

I live in LA, which is one of the most gang laden areas in this country. To make matters worse I go into LA and shoot footage down there. Now I could be all scared about what might happen if I went down there or I could keep an eye out for trouble and have my Glock very close by. I don't let people take from me.

Wise words.

My guns at least even the playing field with all the other armed criminals. You don't hear that much about people pulling out a gun on someone that was about to commit a crime or committing one and them running away. You only hear what the news tells you. I've never had to pull out my gun but I have come very close to doing so.

Back on topic again, I used the Redrock matte box for this shoot and it worked great. If people are looking to save a couple grand get one of these instead of an Arri.

Bad move my friend. How long time ago? More than 60 years ago. History lesson number 1.

That picture should be 70 years old or more.

As Emanuel wisely said: travel to Germany and you'll see through your own eyes what does mean to live there nowadays. Same for Scandinavia or most part of old western Europe.

Your general paranoia is simply ridiculous. Or perhaps not. Won't your policies be the seed of your problem?

As Cristina posted, when someone choose such type of avatar, something goes wrong on your system. Really sad, as Don King said.
