  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon System Demo (Full Auto 120fps)

I do get the fascination.

Since a friend of mine almost shot me in the head while playing around with dad's gun I clearly stay away from those "toys".

See this is why I like to teach people firearms safety. I've taught my Mom, who has a big aversion towards firearms because she saw someone shot in the face by accident because these two people were "playing around". Firearms are very dangerous and should be treated as such. I've also taught a couple kids how to shoot and I put huge importance of how dangerous guns are and how they should be treated with respect.

Nevertheless, such footage reminds me that in the US over 1.500 kids between 18 and 19 get shot and the yearly number of rougly 30.000 killed citizens of all ages is almost a town. I don't know the numbers but in the Iraq war did'nt die equaly many US soldiers yet?! In this regard one can assume that there must be a civil war inside the US.

Here in Germany (85 million inhabitants) approx 3.500 get killed by a car accident and about 1.300 by weapons. I know that 3.500 deaths in the traffic are not good either but are guns a neccessity, for kids, mums and dads? A society makes an oath of disclosure if guns are really needed for self-protection.

I believe that guns are needed for protection. The world is a violent place and sometimes you find yourself on your own. Just pulling events off the top of my head. The LA riots were a great example of why to own a gun. The cops were doing nothing in that situation because they were too scared to take action. The businesses that weren't armed got looted and burned down. Where as the people that were armed were able to defend their business from the looters.

Hurricane Katrina was the event that made me want to learn about firearms because that event showed me that we are truly on our own.

don't worry my decision about firearms is pretty informed...

I can not judge your taste about guns...
because it's a part of your idea about the world...if you
think guns are needed that's your problem and I won't get
into the discussing it with you...you must have had that
discussion many times in your life...

however promoting those
ideas or your taste in terms of advertisement is something
questionable...and it's wrong...for me it's a crime against
humanity...
therefore I find this thread offensive, but at the same time,
useful to test Red's visual abilities yet another time...
that's all I want to say...

The clip that I posted is a demo of the piston driven system that Adams Arms makes. This is going to be shown at firearms trade shows, both for civilian and law enforcement. So how is my taste in advertising "wrong". I wasn't trying to get any Red Users to buy the system. I just wanted to share the footage because I believe it looks very cool.

Uh, it looks like you can own a Red and be stupid... This isn't the America I like... This kind of video isn't worth watching... Buy a poetry book instead, if you can read of course.

I don't know why you think I'm stupid. You should try and articulate yourself a little better instead of calling people names.

How's this for poetry.

the backlit stuff is beautiful, but sex ? I don't know...

With that plunger system, how could it not be? :clown2:

BTW, beatiful stuff Drew.

well nice video but guns are something that
I'm against...I wouldn't like to sound political
but promoting such products is against humanity
whatever the quality of the work...

Well thanks for shitting in a technical thread. You've added NOTHING.

“A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity”. Sigmund Freud

Nice footage!

Those piston systems definitely reduce muzzle rise.

The piston systems big advantage is that all the gases and residue don't go back into the action, which makes the weapon run cooler and cleaner. After going through 500 or so rounds in a day on a standard direct inpungment system the rifle gets very dirty and takes a while to clean. The piston system keeps the weapon much cleaner and cooler, which aids in more reliability.

Also the thing I like about this system is that its a conversion kit. I've had problems with one companies gas piston system. It would constantly jam on ammo they told me to use and then it finally blew up.

No one was hurt badly but my brother said that it felt like someone punched him in the head when it happened. The company was POF and they refunded my money on the upper.

just dicking around until someone came along and added an epic, badass soundtrack... :whistling: :matrix: :gun:

Your touch to that clip Tom was good for a laugh and very true..."Don't mess with Oregon".

Lol, thats right, I *loved* that. Could you find the link again?

Very, very cool demo - I have watched three times in a row!

oh, btw: GUNS ARE COOL!

And this comes from a left-winged user!

Dude, that was way well done! It makes me want to go shoot now, too bad I'm all out of ammo and my dad's is all with him. Frick.

Anyway, why are you guys whining about guns? Its an awesome video, so shut it. If you feel so strongly, then dont post in the thread about it, just PM him so we dont have to hear your whining.

This is a great idea. If some of the people on this forum think that what I'm doing is wrong in some way please PM me and I'll have an endless discussion with you.

Mcgeedigital, really liked that quote from Freud.

This footage shows very well the incredible force of guns. Well done (honestly meant).

But what would hollywood be if there was no easy access to guns in the US? Many plots rely on the power/danger of the equalizer everyone can have. But transfering such plots into eropean settings seems quite over the top or just a cheesy copy.

Looks like guns are an undispensable part of the US-American culture - with a unbelievable high price.

Hans

Those kids you speak of are killed mostly in gang wars or crossfires. Those weapons are illegally bought and used for only bad causes. This video does not promote gun use and killing. Most murders in the U.S. are killed by the slime of this society. You can not judge everyone, and being a non US citizen its funny how you tell us how things work in the US. Look at the statistics of gun violence and see that less than 1% of murders are with a registered gun. Just my 2 cents.

Great footage!

I can't help but think that it would be a little harder to buy a gun illegally if they weren't so easy to get legally.

Really man? Weapons? Are you trying to start a war? Are you pro-killing? HOW DARE YOU!?!?!?

:)

Freakin' badass footage.

Always like the comedy man:gun: .

...and yes I am pro-killing. I step on every ant I see.:)

If someone is intent on killing someone else, and there were no guns on the planet, they'd just use something else. They might even use something that causes worse collateral damage and a more painful death. Molotov cocktails come to mind.

Something to remember also is that there are lots of places in the world that are wilderness, with dangerous animals freely roaming around. In my neighborhood, just a couple weeks ago, I saw two large bobcats fighting each other for territory. Outside of the local suburb, we have bear and cougar in the forests, both of which are big enough to kill humans without much effort. If I were to go hiking, I would feel much safer with a gun.

dear drew,
I think my words are taken wrong...As
I've said I'm not judging you for your taste
or interest in guns...you can tell me million
reasons to own a gun and I can tell you million other
not to own one...and this discussion goes on and on...

I respect your opinion and right to own a gun...
and I wouldn't name you names...
yet promoting such a destructive weapon via
visual medium (i.e. beautifying it by stripping it off
from its conflictual existence) and putting your time
and energy in doing this is very questionable...
look at this thread...everybody is finding the gun
in your video cool and beautiful...
in that sense you don't have to sell anything you
already convinced them by your video, which is
really well done by the way...
as you might guess I'm not judging your skills, either...
I'm just finding the mindset behind your skills dangerous
for this world...and I know I can not change your mind
or anybody else's here about 'fancy weapons'...
Yet I still hope that one day, you and the rest of those gunlovers
out there smarten up before a beloved one close to you
gets hurt by one of those...or when it's too late you can find yourself
trying to convince people by just a couple of words
writing to forums as such in the middle of the night...
and don't give the 'that's why I own a gun' answer
please...
this is all...

I loved your timelapse reels by the way...they are
full of labour and skill...hope to make one of those
when I own a digital slr...

be well...

Agree, nice images though

Thanks for at least paying me a compliment for my work. But beautifying a weapon or something that people won't normally associate beauty with is what I do. Its how I created and show people a world that they can't see. Some firearms are just beautiful in their design...just like a car or some other machinery that's made to strict tolerances. There are far more vehicle related deaths than firearm deaths in the US each year. But you don't look at a car and think instrument of death do you. It all depends on how you look at it. I see a firearm as a defensive weapon and something that can be a lot of fun to train yourself to use well. I hope that people see this video and think, "boy that looks like fun, maybe I should learn about firearms because they look like fun." Or that they want to get that piston system on their AR15. Or damn I need to get a RED camera:)

Also I have had a friend that was randomly killed by some guy at a traffic light because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only thing I could think was I wish he would have been armed because then at least he might have had a chance to defend himself or maybe the mind set to watch out for crazies like that. I've bought friends and family members guns because I want them to be safe. I can't always be there to protect them and even a better point, neither can the cops.
