  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon MG and Wooden Camera DSMC2 cable-less V-mount plate ISSUE

Ok...it's doing it again. Seems to be an issue when I switch from a battery that shows percentage and one that doesn't. If I stay on connective batteries all seems well, when I introduce a dumb battery it goes back to reading 0%, even when I switch back to newer smart batteries. Only way to get rid of this is to reboot with the plate off and reconnect it.

I finally got my mount, but I did a test trying to see if the USB output power gave out power. I plugged in my Iphone with the usb to lighting cable (which would be nice if you shoot with fool control) and I don't get any juice. Why is that? Doesn't matter if the camera is on or not.

Something is not right there as I just checked mine and the USB outputs power even when the camera is off on mine.

My Epic is currently at Red getting upgraded so I can't speak to Weapon but on the Raven, if you go menu>power, there are three drop down menus. Power In, Power Out and Power Save. Under Power Save, there's an Auto Shutdown option that
gives you the choice of "never" or several minute options. I haven't actually tried to let a battery run out to see what happens in this mode yet though..

Does the Auto Shutdown only work with Smart Red compliant batteries? Or does it work with Dumb Voltage only batteries?

Saw it confirmed on another thread about a week ago that only Smart Red batteries (that show percentage) make the Auto Shutdown work. In the same thread there was a request to input a voltage to make it kick into Auto Shutdown, but no confirm. Having trouble finding the thread. I'll edit and paste here if I can find it.

Usually when having a battery attached there's a led showing power is supplied, I do not see such a led showing. If that isn't showing a battery is attached and the USB isn't working I would assume that the D-Taps aren't working as well. I'm very sick and tired of WC right now, all this wait and now I encounter some kind of defect in the first minute of use, what kind of QC do they actually have on these? They cost more than Reds own V-lock mount so this isn't some cheap thing that you'd expect to be badly tested. If it's a defected unit they better send a new one asap, I won't accept to wait for weeks again just for them to fix their units.

Just got mine. WC V-mount Blueshape. USB is working, also all the D-TAPs. Great thing that it seems the connectors are well made, I can't reverse plug the cables that I have.

Sorry to hear about your unit, maybe you need to RMA it.

I also don't have a green led on the camera as I had with RED Belt Clip, probably it's a camera thing and only turns green when you have power through the DC In connector.

Having a "valid power source connected" LED indicator was normal with DSMC. The problem was if you left a RedVolt in the SideHandle, the LED indicator would eventually drain the battery even though the camera wasn't powered up. When traveling with my camera in a bag I would always have to pop the battery compartment door and pop the battery latch so there was no connection that would drain the battery. Now, with DSMC2, with a RedVoltXL left on the XL Expander, there is no LED indicator to drain the battery. This is a good thing! The LED indicator only comes on when power is applied to the DC In port, not when a battery is connected internally. Your USB problem on the other hand sounds like you need an RMA from Wooden...

Nice, that is actually a great feature! You can just cut the power on the DC-IN but you can't with the modules. So this behavior is good thinking.

Hey everyone,

Circling back to see if there was any final word on these. Chris and Jarek, did you end up getting things troubleshot or replaced? Would love to hear your experience as I'm looking for the cableless to sit low on my incoming camera. Typically WC is on point but curious about this product.

Thanks!

I don't know about others, but I've had zero issue with mine since getting it a few months ago. Having some issues with the run start/stop module but I am working with them on that.

Got a new board to install. There was a bad batch or something. It seems to work as it should now. Only thing to note is that it clicks a couple times when I press the power button before the camera boots up. It's weird but apparently normal.
