  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We want 24 fps 4k HDRX on?come on Red

I think there's a solution to this. The Dragon upgrade. It'll give you 75 fps at 4K 2.35:1, which must correspond to about 60 fps at 1.9:1, so you'll get 30 fps HDRx in 4K and 24 fps HDRx at 5K :D

Really hoping we get more info on Scarlet Dragon soon. Bonus points for miraculously unlocking 6K stills even though we were previously told it couldn't be done.

Quite honestly, HDRx at 16+ stops seems like overkill but the heart wants what the heart wants I suppose.

Rule No. 1 of Reduser. Don't buy a Scarlet.
Rule No. 2 of Reduser. Don't ever, ever, ever ask for anything that might make the Scarelt better than it already is.
Rule No. 3 of Reduser. Buy an Epic, upgrade to a Dragon or "shut up and shoot red" ;)
Rule No. 4 of Reduser. Check out the "shut up and shoot that Scarlet" thread, it's awesome.

No? They're pretty standard, and there's about 7 more I forgot to mention. Sometimes you gotta poke fun or you lose all will to post at all ;)

HAHAHA!

One day I was just suddenly yellow... :)

Me:
Why?

Someone who paints people yellow:
Be you.

Me:
Well, ok...

I don't know, my Scarlet has been an awfully good deal:

1) I paid $9750 for brain + mount + SSD module (original deal).
2) I can (and will) upgrade to Epic for $9500 which pretty much preserves my original investment -and it's a brand new body!
3) I can (and hope to), upgrade my Epic to Dragon for an additional $9500.

Considering the price changes that happened on the Epic, and the upgrade path, and the Dragon pricing, it seems the Scarlet may end up being the most cost-effective route to the Dragon!

And, all the while I have ben having fun!! I LOVE my dear ISABELLA!

Honestly Scarlet is an amazing deal, and you guys whine for more.

Those who buy/rent Epics paid a lot more, so they get more- why is that a problem?

When I stay at the Holiday Inn, I don't complain that there is no marble jacuzzi in my room...

When scarlet was announced 24 fps hdrx was one of the features the camera was marketed as being capable of, very different than those asking for 5k 24p

Yep. Jim mentioned it a couple of times... Developing a pseudo-HDRx 24fps mode for Scarlet...

...I'd prefer 4.5k at 24-25fps, to be honest...

I don't mind that things change, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get annoyed when there's no official mention of features no longer being on the table (which I presume is the case for 4k/HDRx on Scarlet).

I think red should do it for his loyal buyers, and do firmware update unlocking this future, 24 fps 4k hdrx on, I don't believe doing that will cut them profit, and they will still have backlog on scarlet - dragon upgrade.

If I remember correctly it was a feature that they had stated as something they were trying to do, but it was never an announced feature. Shortly afterwards they had said it wasn't possible with the hardware.
