Hey Guys
Just wanted everyone to be aware that I have had a pretty serious issue using the new WC D box ( v mount) on our Red Helium with a base IO expander. My camera is still at Red for repair and the information is limited but here is what was happening:

While using the D box and multiple power outputs for accessories my camera brain stopped recognizing all Base IO inputs (SDI, audio, TC etc). This means that no SDI would come out of the camera and TC jam was not possible. I just had my red in for servincg the Base IO two weeks before and then I just picked up the D Box. I do love it's design but until this gets figured out I would be very cautious about using one on set. Once the issue happened on the job I couldn't get the brain to regonize the Base IO even after multiple resets and changing the Base IO to another Base IO expander.

I'll keep you guys posted about what happens.

So you had already had an issue with your base expander that was "fixed"? Sounds like you need a replacement base expander...

Hey Joel
The issue isn't with the base expander which is what I thought originally too. That's why I tried a new base expander on set when I had the issue but that didn't solve it. My base expander had already been repaired prior to this issue and after red engineers examining the setup for over a week(including the d box) they discovered the d box is causing the serious issue. Just a heads up for anyone considering the product from wooden camera.

Red is working with Wooden Camera now. They went directly to them

Sounds like both companies are handling it well. And anyone who has this unit from WC would do well to contact them and figure out what should be done to avoid problems.

Good news from WC is that is this is an isolated issue so far with the unit. Honestly, WC and Red have been awesome in checking this out and there support. Hopefully, no one else will have this issue at all.

Would be helpful to know how to identify if existing D-Box's might have this issue - is there any guidance for people who already own one?

Hi Eric, unfortunately wooden camera didn't tell me anything to look out for, but they did reassure me that this was an isolated problem out of all the units that are in the wild. Feel free to reach out to them though for any wisdom.
