  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

**** warning!!! Don't upgrade to 10.5.6...

We've been burned so many times by Mac OSX updates that we just keep a second internal drive inside a couple key workstations - named them "beta" - clone them from the other OS drive - and when Apple updates OS and ProApp stuff - we boot to the "beta drive" - run the updater and stay on that drive until we feel it is stable on the apps we use day in and day out on jobs.

Also note that a Mac OS update can cause the need to re-install third-party drivers.

So far ... I am all good on 10.5.6

Definitely it is a great practice that of which you are doing Mark, unfortunately for now I have only one station... everything else I sold:)

Any updates on this? Have other people updated their G5 towers with RAID cards without a problem? We are looking to run these updates but also don't want to risk ANY part of our data.

Yes all should be fine, as each individual manufacturer has posted fixes, this is also the case with MaxxDigital.

To be sure check with your manufacturer, but it should be fine.

I haven't had any problems with 10.5.6 and my CalDigit setup. By the way, whatever you do don't get the Apple Raid Card.
