Hello everyone.
I need some good advice on buying a movie camera for myself and a little for rent.
I've been a bit out of sorts for the last few years, and a lot of water has flowed under the bridge as I can see. I've set my sights on the Ranger movie camera with the Helios or Monstro matrix.
I've been trying to find out about these cameras for the last week and it turns out it's not that simple.
Of the new cameras, I was advised to buy only the Gemini 5K. Because the Monstro and Helium have a problem of unexpectedly turning off due to some bugs in the battery line. In addition, there's the fact that this bug can't be repaired at a service center, although they charge $2,700 for it.
Can you advise me, is it really that serious with these cameras?
I live in Swiss now.

I want to use the 8K sensor to get the best possible clarity on my old LOMO anamorphic lens.
Thanks in advance.

I have been using a Red Monstro Ranger for a number of years and never had the issues you were told about. The Monstro sensor is simply one of the best looking imagers still on the market and I loved the "studio" style build of the camera where everything is built into the camera that you need. My body had the hard Gold Mount battery option on the back and the camera is/was a workhorse for me. Recently, however, I have switched to the Raptor XL-X as it had a few features I couldn't pass up, but it was hard to move away from my Ranger as I still love that camera.

You can't go wrong with that system and at 8K VV, the camera's images will still be relevant for years and years to come. With that said, I'm contemplating selling my Ranger as I prefer not to mix Monstro and Raptor sensors on the same projects, so let me know if you want any information in that regard.

You can’t get a better recommendation than one from Christopher Probst!

However, I’d also just recommend you rent the bodies, if possible, before purchasing.

Thank you all. I bought RAPTOR with HELIUM 8K S35.
A camera with extremely low mileage came up for EBAY, so I bought that one first.
The next camera I am considering buying is also the Rapotor XL VV

What lenses do/did you use on your ranger?
