  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

VOGUE + RED+ Bottega Veneta NEW EXPOSURE CONTEST

Just saw this...

I have been pretty busy, but my friend Adam Beck (Thank you Adam!) from REDucation pm'ed me about this... I will pull stills this weekend from several shoots that I did on my MX! I can't wait wait to see what you guys think and I can't wait to show off my crew!

Thank you Jarred and Jim for doing this!

Yeah that would be but cool but it just make me remember how the level in Europe in fashion photography and specially in Milano , Barcelona and Paris is really really really High :)

Only For american residents and red owner would have been great :)

Don't you like challenge... ;)

Thank the lawyers.. or more so contest rules dictated by each country... not Vogue Or RED's decision. To have an international contest.. the legal fees just to set it up to accomodate with laws from each country would be so cost prohibitive it would cost many, many times the prizes let along all other costs involved.

Ouch...

About to arrange something...

Well, then...

I cannot find the contest rules, that sound like Jarred's, on Vogue's site. On the Promotion site

http://promotions.vogue.com/sweeps_newexposure.php

it does mention that "Only the top 10 finalists will be notified." But nowhere does it mention that "the top 10 finalists will be loaned EPIC cameras to shoot a project and the winner will be chosen at an event in NYC."

The contest rules seem vague on the Vogue site.

I think this is the first time a RED camera has been given away correct?

If memory serves me right, there was one RED One given away as first prize in a brainstorming contest. I seem to remember that the winner proposed that the camera would record depth (as in distance sensor to subject) on a pixel basis as a fourth channel.

Anyone know what resolution images to submit and whether or not they are all supposed to be in the same PDF or not?

It said somewhere "PDF Portfolio" so by that I understood that I had to make a PDF file with all the images and the title page with my info. So I'd say all in the same one. HATED compressing the images, the PDF ended up being 17mb... each still was over 50mb each at first.

So did you do like 1024 max dimension or something?

Can anyone at RED confirm when the deadline is, I have until Wednesday right before it strikes midnight correct? It's been a long couple of weeks and I just have a couple more photos that I would like to do and I definitely do not want to miss the deadline! That would be bad...

"1. PROMOTION PERIOD.Promotion begins 12:01 a.m. ET April 24, 2012 and ends 11:59 p.m. ET May 30, 2012, when all entries must be received (“Promotion Period”)."

Well, my 18 meg file didn't bounce back, so I hope it made it. I hope. And before the EASTERN strike of midnight. I discovered the "Eastern" 'wrinkle' about two hours before 8 Pacific, thinking I had 5 hours to put the final PDF together. It was race time, indeed!

So, how did everyone do? Any examples?

Man, putting the final PDF together really made it a race! haha never done that before but finally figured it out. All in all I had a blast with the project. Learned a lot for sure. I'll definitely post my set after everything is all said and done. I'd love to see you other guys too!

Some of the entries are incredible.. I am very proud of alot of you that took a swing for the first time without any direction, and shot some great stuff. Good job.

I had a great time with it as well! Something I've been interested in trying for a while and the contest got me to go out and actually do it!
I will definitely post my set after this is over and look forward to seeing everyone else's work as well!

Jared, i'm curious what the status is on this competition? Any new info?

Thanks!
