My side handle is back ordered but I have a friend who is going to let me borrow his V Mount batteries/Belt Clip until the side handle comes in. Also it will help me make a decision on REDVOLTS vs REDBRICKS (or get both). But he only has one charger. If he has a shoot I will need to have a charger. Are there any 3rd party chargers that can charge 2 batteries at once? He said that the RED charger only does one at a time. Also I may hold out this way untill the quadcharger/quadmodule comes out.

Would this work?

Also I have had bad luck with AB batteries going bad on me. I have had 3 go bad. Will Vmount batteries do the same over time?

AND, Ive seen people say they get 1.5 hours out of a REDBRICK and some say 2 Hours. Is the the case with most people?

Also will ANY Vmount battery work? Is the risk to damage the camera using other brands?

*I searched couldn't find a good answer.

I have all kinds of V mount bats, from IDX to cheap Chinese ones, they're all pretty the same quality, some of mine are 3-4 years and still good an hold charge well,
it is mostly about recharge cycles then about age of the battery;
they work on all cameras, but with RED not all of them will display battery information, only RED bricks and the ones designed for RED ,
i also think this one is the best for the price

Thanks for the links guys; those prices are a LOT better than anything else I've found. About $800 for two batteris + charger (including tax/shipping). And those are 160WH batteries. Next best I've found is about $850 for 90WH batteries.

Wow, this was a great find guys, really informative! I was consiering getting like 8 red volts and 4 chargers but this sounds much more economical.

I just have a quick noob question though. When dealing with V-Mount batteries with the RED scarlet, is there some kind of converter I need to purchase in order to use it? Or does the RED scarlet already have that installed?

Michael, you will need some way to mount/attach. This has been highly regarded recently:

http://reduser.net/forum/showthread...tery-Plates-IDX-amp-AB-REDmote-charging-cable!

There are also some other options (including one made by Red itself) that mount to 19mm or 15mm rails. The beauty of the View Factor plate (the link above) is that it attaches directly to the camera, so you don't need any other gear to mount your mount.

Thanks, I just put in my order. It's been a long time since I've used the classic V-mount.

Im thinking of getting 4 of the big 230wh ones and then 2 of the 55wh to use for light weight setups. any thoughts on that? or do you think the 55wh ones wont even be worth it?

I see the Viewfactor V-Mount back posted a lot.

But the RED Backpack is 50 dollars cheaper. Does it not work with all V-Mount batts?

The backpack quickplate (which is backordered right now) is $650, yes, but it's made to go on the DSMC Backpack, which is $1200
So the whole solution is $1850 total.

By the way I ordered from Global Media Pro on Tuesday and got it this afternoon (from china)! So their shipping is FAST!

The only down side was that their ordering process is iffy and wiring money is a pain (and cost me $40). They wouldn't for instance let you change shipping addresses without cancelling the order and opening a new one. But their customer service would reply in a couple hours to any emails I sent.
