  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC & RED

Vilmos

Vilmos

Vilmos is a very accomodating person and willing to try anything and brings with it complete professionalism. I doubt very much it was his choice to shoot on Red as his preference is film however Im lucky enough to have met him on many occations and he is quite possibly one of the best people in the business.

You are correct with your assumption, Vilmos prefers to shoot on film, which we his familiar with than digital. But I must say he was very excited to try this new format. He was asked by Bruce Willis to shoot on RED.
He agreed but only after we did several weeks of tests, and all the different film out processes, to see how digital holds up when printed onto film and then projected.

Would you like to share what you learnt? Thanks

Ramesh,
The most important things I learned from Vilmos about Light were -
Thinking about it, where is it coming from ? How should it feel ?
The color of it ? and the power of the aperture - overexposing and underexposing your main light for the effect you want, back to -
How should it feel, where's it coming from. Make sense?
Peter.

This film "Three Stories About Joan" does not exist anymore on IMDB website.
Also Bruce Willis and Vilmos Zsigmond don't have it on their own list.

Any news about this ?

Does anyone know the reasons behind Vilmos testing RED or choosing RED to test? That is to say, was he looking at digital potential in a global sense or RED potential in a camera specific sense?

"And there is even less point in having sharp ideas when you've fuzzy images." Jean Luc McEwan (:
