  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Viewing MXF files on a Mac

I don't know of any.
But there is a free 30-day trial version of Media Composer that you could use.
And I guess you know about Calibrated{Q} MXF for OSX?

Hey guys,

Is there a free utility that I can view DNxHD 175 MXF files on my Mac with for QC after transcoding from R3D? Can't find one.

Download the trial version of MediaComposer and the Doc that Michael put up at Avid.com/red

It's the best way to verify that the workflow you're doing will work when you deliver the mxfs.

if you are on mac, try also the mxf4mac import

-- just tested for a export of avid mxf from redcine x b96
and with the mxf import from calibrated, it just plays nicely in the Apple QT player ànd Finalcutpro 7 ... nice...
On the same machine was a demo version of Mediacomposer 4.0.5 installed to have the Avid QT codecs - all on OSX 10.5.8
