OK, so, the new Sony EX3 has what is basically an LCD screen which then has an attachment that turns it into a viewfinder. Nothing new here, the Sony C35 eyepiece is the same idea. All that this viewfinder attachment is is a plastic optic or two to magnify and focus the image from the LCD so you can view t with your eye next to it. Can we get something like that to work with the red LCD?

Just checked my Digibeta, and same deal. There's a small lcd, then the eyepiece itself is just a tube to set the distance and 2 optics. Can't be that difficult surely, to make up something like a hoodman out of a square of plastic with a couple of lenses in? Wondering if even the back end of a digibeta etc. viewfinder would tape to the lcd and focus the image onto it?
Just idle and I guess desparate speculation! Although by the time my camera comes there may be a flood of EVFs so no panic!

HAHAHA I've been thinking about doing this for the last week or so. Just building a little hood with a Diopter in it. and using it as a Monster EVF.

Be interested to find out if you can do it Mike. I'm very good at theorising but when it comes to practical things I flag a bit. I may try a few experiments with a Digibeta viewfinder and a small lcd (don't have a red one to play with unfortunately!) I do have a shoot next week with a Phantom Miro which has a small LCD at the back so might be able to try it there.
WE NEED SOMETHING!!!!:angry01:

If you guys give this a try, please keep us in the loop. With the EVF delayed and the 7" LCD not yet shipping, a good temp solution would be nice.

I don´t think that will be the best idea. Even if you will get the same resolution - with a diaopter in front of the lcd, you will magnify all these big pixels on the LCD. An EVF is so expensive not only because of total resolution, but on resolution per minimal size.
