Well a cage is much simpler than motor and electronics! If it helps keep them in business so they can finally deliver on Impero/Inclino that's a good thing.

I agree, my VF follow focus is great and so I want VF to be around for a long time incase I need repairs or spares.

Cheers, Tim

Yeah... I think everybody is just sick of this thread... I mean it's February already... Two year ceremony soon? I don't know how many people received their unit but I guess its not that many or else everyone will be responding. So Curt, any news on our beloved Impero/Inclino? Please don't go too quiet on us! LOL

Just an update. Got my FF in on Friday and it seems to work great. Used it on a shoot Saturday, but solely as a remote start/stop since we were using a one-in-the-world lens that has no focus or iris. I haven't tested the distance on it, but the motor is a little bit quieter and MUCH more responsive to control. It also seems to keep communication better and is very precise when it comes to repeating moves on marks. Overall, very happy with the product and I encourage everyone to wait the few more weeks to get theirs as it's worth the wait.

Matthew

Whenever someone recieves their FF...Could you post your order#?
Sure ain't perfect, but at least this gives others some idea of shipping status...

Yeah, except for RMA's like Matthew's. I know his order# was later than mine but he was a beta tester. I guess it makes sense to get the beta units out of the field before starting on backorders.

I'm still waiting for the RMA for my motor...

Hi guys,

I have number 103, can you tell me i can dream of my FF soon ?
I email and phone to VF but no answer, like if they're closed !!

I find the VF extremely unprofessional in the way they are treating their clients.

Curt, I'm referring to the faulty Origo, which caused an $800 damage to my Red One which you refused to take the responsibility for.

On 22 Devember 2009 you requested me to send the Origo to you for your evaluation. I did so as you requested. I have not received any response from you after sending you the Origo back.

On 11 February I sent you an email. I have not been graced with a reply.

Now, in addition to an $800 damage, I also lost the Origo and I lost the money I paid for the Origo.

Frankly, I'm over it by now and entirely disgusted with the way you are conducting yourself, mate.

Do you really want lawyers involved or are you going to sort this out as it should have been done in the first place? What is your problem in resolving this issue or even responding to my emails? Surely, you can't blame it on your sub-contractors or a bug in your software.

I look forward to your early reply.

I spoke to Curt on the phone today, after 4 non succesfull attempts. They are still there. I am number 50 something. He said my turn is probably next week, for what it is worth.... I think we all lost confidence , however I was glad to talk to him on the phone.

Don't want to say "I told you so", just so glad i saw the early warning signs from this company and got my money back. At the time i remember a few people on this forum gave me a bit of a hard time for what i was saying, but VF have proved me and others to be correct in our evaluation of them. I would have preferred that they didn't and everyone got their gear. I followed this thread from the get go, what a journey!..Curt, you have broken every rule in the book. You're customers are beyond patient.

The problem is that Curt is a one man band. I know there's supposedly more people on it but he's the main work force there and he only have so many hands. So programming, designing, machining and on top of that trying to be on internet, answer phones and administrate the people reclaiming their money - I can see how all of this is way over his head.

I don't think he means to ignore you guys. He's just not cut out for all the things above. He's an "engineer", nothing else.

I agree that all this is ridiculous, but from recently speaking to VF I know they're struggling with everything - trying to keep angry people happy in all sorts of ways and find time to move ahead with production.

Unfortunate it is.

As I have been following this for quite some time (1 month before purchase and the subsequent 16 months after) I have a sense of what will happen next. Curt has been attacked for his business practices, someone has defended him "as a good guy/engineer/whatever" with poor business skills. None of this gets me the info I need about when/if I'm going to get my follow focus. I actually have a shoot that will require real technical focus pulling and need this tool.

So I implore people, please keep this keep this forum to intelligence only (I saw Curt eating a hot dog and relaxing in the California sun. I commented on how cold and miserable I am living in New York. Curt, being such a nice guy, said how sad it was that everyone couldn't live in California. I replied that I was happy that my money could keep him in sun and hotdogs. He laughed and said thank you. We hugged) so that everyone will have an idea of where they stand in the line of maybe.

I will make a move to start this with my order # and date of purchase. I have no RMA or shipping number but maybe someone knows the system and can help me out and tell me where I am in the line. I think this would also help give people a sense of where they are in the line.

So here I am Benjamin Zimbric #ORD200810091 ordered 10/09/2008

Okay so more cheery news. Just tried to log into Viewfactor's website and found that my account and order information have disappeared. I am really nervous that I am no longer even on the radar of someone who really wants what he paid for. If you have not logged into their site in a while, I would check to make sure your order is still there.

So here I am Benjamin Zimbric #ORD200810091 ordered 10/09/2008

I also thought this was cute on the email I got after I re-registered my account.

"If you have any questions about your account or any other matter, please feel free to contact us at dummyemail@magentocommerce.com or by phone at (555) 555-0123."

That's what it actually says. I go cry now...

Benjamin, I tried to do the same thing and log into my account details on the VF website only to find my account was inactive. I sent an email through the website's contact form and within a couple of days got this reply from Caroline Von Badinski (8 Feb 2010):

Daniel,

Thank you for your email. Your order is still in the system and will be shipping before the end of the month. We have the motors assembled and just waiting on the new Impero boards with all the updates incorporated which are expected back from the manufacturer in 2 weeks.

We appreciate your patience as I know it has been a very long wait.

My order details FYI are:
ORD200804081 on 9 April 2008 - 1 x Impero, 2 x Inclinos
ORD2008090211 on 3 Sept 2008 - 1 x Inclino

Cheers,
dan graetz
