Hi all!

I received my Impero about two month ago... and use it with the birger mount.

Curt told me on the phone, at that time, not to update the impero with birger's firmware, due to incompatibility between VF and Birger bootloaders...

He said that he would write the update himself and tell me to wait for his signal to update my impero.

CURT, How far are you on this?
So far, my impero works only for the basic operations (focus) but many features don't work: Knob limit, iris...

(am I the only one in this case???)

(also still waiting for the inclino...)

Finally here and working great !

Finally here and working great !

My replacement motor arrived this afternoon. (I received my VF DFF unit in August but returned the motor) I have just set it up and it works great. (I have Red lenses) The motor seems to be smooth and has almost no noise doing slow to medium focus pulls. For faster focus you can hear the motor but I doubt it would ever be an issue. Its very responsive and seems with my short test today to be very accurate with no lag or drift.

I would have to say the whole Viewfactor follow focus setup I is far better than I was expecting when I first ordered. The system has only the basic functions enabled at the moment, and does all these well. I am very impressed by it !! And am very happy now I waited.

So anyone out there thinking about asking for a refund, I would suggest to hang in there as I feel its a great system.

Cheers, Tim.

We finally got our inclino impereo system on friday (currently shooting a dramatized documentary on steadicam so wireless is an absolute need!)
It was worth the wait, the new motors are much much better lighter and quieter!
We have all been on a viewfactor roller coaster and I have been giving curt as hard of a time as anyone (especially with the current project looming and the idea of having to rent a bartech for a month was not very appealing!) however he has produced a great product. If you have stuck it out this long just wait a little longer!

Thanks for that.

Problem for me is that the longer I wait the more I think that I won't even need the kit for a wireless FF. I plan on getting the Red Electronic lenses and if the touch focus control works as well as I think it will....

I guess I can always use the motors for a motion control dolly.... But only if I ever get my Mirus moco head (which I haven't heard any news about in over a year).

Did you pay in full upfront?

That's going to be an even longer wait, isn't it? The Electronic lenses are for the FF Brains, so we have to be talking at least another year, and it's not as though S35 lenses are going to suddenly go out of fashion.

Good to hear people are getting their Impero/Inclinos slowly but surely.....

Yeah, it may be a year but they don't necessarily have to wait for the FF35 Brains. I'm sure you will be able to use the RED Electronic lenses and Mounts on an S35 Brain.

That's a great question. Will that require a specialty mount on the S35 Brain? I assumed that the Red Electronic lenses were for the "soon to be invented" Red mount only... not sure.

Dont forget that the new Canon and Nikon mounts for Epic/Scarlet are electronic

anyone hear from ViewFactor?
What is the status on production?

Are the units still shipping "next week" :-) 2 years in the waiting

Couple people got some RMA replacement units recently with great reports which is a nice change.

But all in all it's just the same 'ol story from VF with no reports, no regular updates from Curt even though he stressed he wouldn't go quiet again. And no closer it would seem to everyone getting their FF units from a couple years back now. There has been a few saying the are not even getting refunds and combining this with Curt's rare posts it is quite obvious they are on a knifes edge. I can't see anyone getting their money back from here, but slowly and painfully everyone may get there FF if he can keep going. He is designing new product to keep the business going but with such a record on the Inclino and problems with the Origo and 'bricking' some Reds a little while back i think it's going to be a steep climb. At least the latest reports have been very good which is a nice thing to read for a change.
In saying that i think he can do it but and i seriously hope he can as when the day arrives (hopefully 2010) that i get my FF i will have a company that can service it. Because if we don't and something goes wrong it will rapidly be on the shelf as a history lesson.

I just got mail, saying that the RMAs are almost finished and they ship backorders daily, and everything is finally up and running.... Lets all hope this will end soon. As soon as I get my two units and hopefully is happy with the result, I will order more motors, so I hope this product won't sink VF into the ocean :/

Just found another great product from Viewfactor (unless it's listed wrong on the article) for those of you waiting to use your follow focus with your Canon 5d Mk2. A cage would really be helpful I have to say. http://www.cinema5d.com/news/?p=2147

Wish I had the pull of 24 and could get my follow focus. Might even consider buying a cage for the camera too.

Also the website seems to be back up.

Well a cage is much simpler than motor and electronics! If it helps keep them in business so they can finally deliver on Impero/Inclino that's a good thing.
