  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

We are building 15 motors to ship out. Firmware on the Imperos is still a little lagging, the last two features are turning out to be the hardest to implement and I'm only one person. If anyone has done embedded systems design using AVRs, programmed in C, has experience in motor control systems, is in the LA area, and wants to donate their time then I'm all ears. Otherwise I am working as fast as I can. I pushing to have this resolved by tomorrow.

Keep up the good work. You're almost there....

Thank for the update Curt.

Cheers, Tim.

So a few drawbacks I see with this i-phone thingy.
a- you are in the middle of a shot pulling iris with your i-phone and your mom calls you
b- you just finished a big round with the DP because of this screw up and you are pulling iris again and your mom calls again because thats what moms do dont they?
c - Now your are sweating because the DP punched you in the eye and apart of the fact that you cant see very well your fingers are wet of the sweat and they keep messing up the touch iphone pad giving this wonderful night and day efect on the DPS monitor and everyone is dancing to the rhythm and guess what? your mom calls again, cause thats what moms do,
So you through away your i-phone and smash it to the wall and when you get over the anger you realize that , that was a bad move so you try to see if it still works, and it doesnt so you give up. But all of a sudden guess what? the i-phone is ringing again , messes up the shot again while someone else is pulling iris on a preston, because you are sucked and have no job now, and the worst thing is that...its your mom again, cause thats what moms do they call you all the time , cause they dont care if you are rich or poor, unemployed or with a good job, they love you just the way you are...
That was a good short feature comedy scenario wasnt it hey?:sifone::laugh:
just to easup the wait.:reddevil:

After reading this I think I'd have to drop the $199 and have an iPhone without service!!!

Why not just put the iPhone into airplane mode and then switch back on just the wifi? Or just get an iPod Touch?

works fine with itouch too.

Cool. You have one, eh? How is it? I may have a valid excuse to buy an iTouch after all.

Curt, sorry we're crapping in your thread. Still (very patiently) waiting for my Impero kit.

You could definitely disconnect cell service and go wifi only no problem.

digital fx, how's the lag? Seems you guys are having success with MPs. Any experimenting with 3 axis control using multiple units and the "3 cam" mode on the iphone?

I made just a funny scenario to lighten up a bit this thread, just being a bid amusing.
I know eventually there are many solutions and it will finally work.
Nice one Curt but I really think you should get a few more hands for your production .
take care

Just got notice that I'd get trackingnumbers today. Let's see what happens ... :-)

I'm number 8. But still no tracking number. Did get an explanation from Curt, though - apparently some customs issues.

Keep us posted, Tony... very interested to see how this plays out!

Just used my new motor from curt, on a show im on right now.
Worked great !. totally silent, compares close to other brands.
I didnt have any calibration or torque issues at all on a old stiff set of primes.

Only thing is i wish it had hard stops, i know why it doesnt... but i wish it had hard stops.

I had the camera on my should with the motor very close to my ear and i could barely hear it... awesome !

Other wish would be the ability for it to save lens positions on the controller when powered down. But i know curt is working away on that.

you guys will be very happy.

If any of you are in the LA area and would like to play with it., please hit me up. Id be more then glad to demo my unit with 2 motors.
