my 2 year anniversary for being paid in full will be in april

A ton of us ordered at or around NAB '08, just like Paul.

I know Curt will deliver eventually, it's been a long wait for sure. I think I'm about #60 in the pipeline, if that still means anything.

I placed my order on March 31, 2008. Didn't want to make it an April fool's joke by ordering a day later.

Unfortunately, the whole venture was more than a joke so far... :banghead:

last time i phoned...2 weeks ago...Curt was saying that he was swapping the 32 tooth gear for a 40 tooth gear as the former did not have the torque for some of the stiffer lenses out there...

as far as birger...thats just the remote...they have been ready for a while...it's the motors that are the real holdup

Are you sure it's not the other way round? A 40 teeth gear would make it harder. If the problem is lack of tork, you need a smaller gear, if the problem is lack of speed, you need a larger gear, as long as you have the power.

Cheers,
Damien

Must be an internal gear.... Changing the gear that touches the lens would not cause a major delay. And if it is internal then yes... more teeth will equal more torque...depending where it is in the chain.
Unless it's a direct drive, there is definately more then 1 gear in the system....

I tried to hang on a little longer but this is bull shit!

This weeks IBC and there goes another week.
Manufacture error, there goes months...
O shit! Our toilet stopped working and there goes another week...

Weeks, Months, Years ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! FUKEN HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE.

When RED came out and asked for money I was hesitant but decided to move fwd with faith that they will deliver. With other companies taking advantage of this business plan but cannot deliver totally sucks! It's companies like this that make you think twice about investing into them.

Canceled my order today!

Two ways...

Two ways...

There are two ways to develop and market a product:

1. Develop target specifications, design and build a prototype, test until you eliminate all bugs and glitches, prove specifications, then design a sexy case and offer a working unit for sale. Deliver working units when paid for on a timely basis.

Or...

2. Design a sexy case and write a list of specifications that you intend to meet, take full payment from customers promising speedy delivery, then try to figure out how to build it and make it work. Keep promising to deliver, "in about two weeks."

This is so surreal; I don't know which is more preposterous, the endless string of broken promises or the attacks by VF supporters on anyone who dares to point out that the emperor has no clothes.

I'm thinking that if you really need this thing, you've paid far more than the price of another unit in rental fees over two years. If your needs are much less, you'd probably be better off renting anyway.

Most alarming to me is the prospect of future service from a company with such a track record.

I hope VF is solvent enough to refund to those who wish.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

You certainly have a point there - if any VF product have to go to service - what lead-time are we talking. Weeks, months?

Check my past posts, this is the very reason i got a refund, i have no doubt that EVENTUALLY the product will be up to scratch, but when that eventuality will come to pass is up for debate, time seems to be elastic in the VF world. It's been time to wake up and smell the coffee for a while now, i think even the die-hard VF supporters must be sat shaking their heads wondering how they are going to find the spunk to support this sham.

What lead time did they have in the past, if that's an indication?

We're on the Birger wait list and the thing that's worrying me is the possibility that all these broken promises will lead to a rush of refund requests which will result in the death of Viewfactor (banks get taken down by this kind of thing) which will mean the end of support for something I have hopes for in the long term. If Curt is struggling, it's high time he took on an investor to enable him to get the staff and/or tools to move forward. Problem is, I can't believe an investor would come on board at this late stage without tossing the current management out the door.

WTF this pisses me off. What is it with you? You got you're refund didn't you? So why the F are you still nagging about that. Nag about everything else, but that is so low Leo.

Sorry about the capitals but it really is not good manners when you actually have got your refund. It's just trying to stir things up!!!

As for the VF guys they have been shipping like crazy, but to all the "screamers" out there - I did say that they should ship it in order of the serials and especially to those who has been waiting patiently. That way they would have most probably gotten good reviews on this thread. Instead all of us feel cheated again.

As for the VF guys they have been shipping like crazy, ....

Sorry Fredrik, have I missed anything? Where is the evidence of VF shipping like crazy? I don't see them shipping at all. In fact they misled just about every customer about their delivery consistently on every single occasion for the past two years. Exactly at what point do you acknowledge a failure?

I think, Leo raised a perfectly valid concern in a straight, fair and unbiased way. He has every right to complain because, as most other VF customers, he did not receive the goods that he paid for in full and there is no evidence that anyone has or will. However, there is no less than 2359 pieces of evidence in this thread alone suggesting that VF, due to its misleding trade practices, may not survive another year. Leo has every right to warn a prospective buyer about the conduct of the vendor he and many others had a displeasure dealing with.:banghead:

They are shipping, albeit very slowly. I have my unit. I was one of the first to put money down and never screamed once. I like the unit a lot although many of its applications are overkill for my line of work where a manual follow focus would just be easier. We used the system the last 2 weeks of a feature I shot in July and it saved my ass in a number of handheld situations as I was the prime AC/focus puller on that shoot. My motor is currently being upgraded to a better ratio/quieter unit. The great thing about Viewfactor is that they are very dedicated to quality of their product. They want to make sure they get this right because once they start flooding the market, most people will forget the wait. I'm on your side though. As a customer, the waiting has been ridiculous but this ain't no Carrion Monitor situation. Curt and team are very honest people and eventually you will all get your goods. I can't speak for the lack of communication on Viewfactor's part but it's just one of those situations where 'when it's done, it's done' And rest assured, they're working hard on it but they're only human and humans make mistakes. I'm hoping they can pull this one off soon, because like I said, the system is really nice.

This is just false information. I have worked with one almost a month ago. It was not the upgraded version but it will be upgraded soon.

You have made valid points many times about the situation but now you are crossing the line. The VF FF is shipping. Sooner or later all customers will get get their own.

I hope it's sooner because i want to order mine!

The VF FF is shipping.

How many have shipped with motors 10 maybe 15?

3 more days until my promised shipping date- a year late!

Let me guess, 2 more week we are at IBC.................................................

Curt, it's high time for an update before all hell breaks loose!
