VFS Inclino, Imperio, Origo News ??

He also said that the Inclino's new harmonic drive was basically the Inclino Pro and folks were essentially getting a motor upgrade for free (time delays notwithstanding).

As far as I know the harmonic drives are not being put into the Inclinos anymore. The new motor design is Curt's own. Correct me if I'm wrong...

I heard of someone using an audio handgrip with a 1/4-20 screw which had a lanyard provision. The design naturally had a rosette type of pivot and was relatively low profile when folded. It was under $100. The other option is creatively implementing Zacuto parts to make a quick release handle. Here's one option:

This can quick release from the Impero and is quite adjustable. Loop the lanyard through one of the existing slots. Not perfect but can a great feel if you hold it horizontal or upright.

Yup, Its my own design... its a vairant of a cycloid but doesn't have the tolerance hangups that are usually associated with them.

Thats essentially the idea. Implementation is always a bare. I did about 20-30 profiles before I got it right. I ended up writing a program that calculates the 10,000 curve points and generates the profile automatically now.

UPDATE: Motors are going to be going out on a daily basis as well as Imperos. We finally have all the kinks worked out in the manufacturing process so we are getting consistent results. The motors are about 1/2 as loud as the one we used in the video demo a month ago. I'd venture a guess that these are just as quiet as a number of motors on the market. We are taking this weekend to move to a new location and put together a solid schedule for you guys. I expect to have all orders placed up to September of last year squared away in the next 2-3 weeks.

Is it realistic to say if I order 3 or 4 kits (with 3 motors each) and a few extra Imperos in the next couple weeks that I could see them delivered by mid to late October?

Are the Origos safe to use these days?

Yes, we expect to have our backlog fulfilled within 4 weeks. October will be doable.

Origos are fine, check your cables and make sure it says "LEMO" on the connector. If not then contact us at info@viewfactor.net and we'll send you an RMA to get them replaced.

Heres another 5 customers going out...

Saweeet! We are one of those boxes. Got tracking number today. I must say, I am pretty excited for this product. Was excited when we first placed our order. Now even more so! Will follow up after we play with it. Thanks for the hard work Curt and crew. Hopefully your significant others are still around to spend some time with :).

Can the ones that received theirs please give us their order number (or just the date you placed the order)? I got ORD200811053 and I don't want to bother Curt and crew, but if we get posts from people receiving theirs, we can estimate when to expect ours :)

Personally, and i think this is by FAAAARRR the best way to go is to just sit back and wait. Don't expect it, predict it, think it or worst know when you think it may arrive. There have been far too many hiccups along this journey and i would not be surprised if there is another or two once more feedback comes in on the units hitting the ground. Curt is going to make this product a killer but if it takes a couple more holdups to get it right i'm cool with that. But heh, we might be at the pointy end of things now by the sounds of it...hang on...that sounds familiar doesn't it...No probs Curt, just having a laugh:sarcasm:

Here's a question for those who have the units now. Way back when, at the time Curt was listening to suggestions from all of us about what we would like to see in the Impero, this came up.... How does the Impero unit go about re-aligning wheel marks when switching between motors / F,I,Z controls? Just wondering exactly how it works if I have the wheel set at one position for focus, switch to zoom and rotate 20 degrees, then switch back to the focus control..

Anyway, I'm hoping to receive mine soon..

Peter, your posts show a certain amount of laziness. The Order Numbers and their place in line are posted on Viewfactor's forum. Curt has said that all backlogged orders should be fulfilled in the next 4 weeks. Your number is well past the list posted on the Viewfactor site (and very close to mine). Putting two + two together, both of ours will be fulfilled towards the end of the 4-week period.

Take Brigham's advice and stay tranquilo, hombre!

What number are you Zach?
According to Viewfactor, we are order number 3. We ordered the very moment they were accepting orders way back when. I guess there were some mix-ups etc... about placement so not sure if us getting our order now is an accurate measurement of delivery etc... Anyway, hope that helps.

Lazy? You say we are lata i Sverige Michael ;-)

Well, how can Peter and I find our order number @ viewfactor.net? The list ends with number 6201 (last four digit of the order) - Pls tell us where ORD200811053 or ORD200812221 fit in that magic and mysterious system of numbers.

I don't get it either - please enlight us!

Its pretty simple, as somebody explained a few pages ago: the order # is serialized. Its the year, followed by the month, followed by the day of the month, followed by the nth order that day. The list ends in September and numbers in the hundreds of orders. Mine is early October, his November 5th, yours is December 22nd. If CVB is going to fulfill all of the back log in 4 weeks, then my super ninja math skills tell me that, notwithstanding additional delays, the three of us are getting our orders fulfilled at the end of that 4 week period. I am sure people can spend countless hours estimating whether its day 21, day 23, day 26, or whatever within that 28 day window, but two things are clear: units are going out, and you will get yours within the next month. Now go and enjoy the summer and stop worrying about whether the delivery man will show up at 10:27 AM or 10:37 AM sometime around mid-September.

Well, I did the explanation, a few pages ago.

Still it's not possible to see (as you stated) at the viewfinder.net where in the line our order are. So we are not lazy!!!

And I wouldn't take that for granted (next month fullfillment ergo). However I wonder how many units which are in order in total. I'm not trying to estimate the hour, more to the month.

PS. Off topic question; The Super Baltar - are they very soft? DS.

And I wouldn't take that for granted (next month fullfillment ergo).

LMAO! Indeed.

But, and I am only guessing here, I think the great bulk of the orders that have been placed were placed by the end of Sept 08. Why? Sure, there were a few like the three of ours, who placed orders in the last quarter of 08. But given 1) the global recession in late 08, 2) CVB's significant price increase in January 09, and 3) the broad discussion of endless delays starting in late 08 on this very thread, including some that have canceled their orders, there were not a whole lot of new orders made after Sept 2008 when the list ended. I doubt CVB will publish the number of orders, but my guess is that there are nowhere near enough post-Sept 08 orders such that our relative place in line would be anywhere lower than the last 1/4 of total orders. Ergo, we should get ours in the last week of the 4-week (ahem) window.

But what I was really trying to do was head off a few hundred posts of people responding to Peter's request to post order numbers and delivery dates. This thread is long enough and unfortunately, I am now contributing to its length with today's discussion. My apologies.

Now go enjoy the summer and stay tranquilo.
