Sorry for offending you Kwan but opinions are like arseholes - everybody has one.

Meanwhile I'll wait for the product to ship and then place my order and take away a hell of a lot of grief at the same time. I've learnt that lesson already with RED, RedRock, VFS Origo etc.

Just talked to Curt on the phone and it seems that the VF stuff unfortunately isn't going to be able to reach me in time for my shoot this weekend, but we had a real nice talk and I'm 100% sure they will deliver an astounding product in the end. Curt - thanks for taking 5 minutes out of your busy schedule to talk to me and let me know "in person".

Great lesson for me too. I took jobs and then have to pay (rental for c-motion) for my own ... cuz VF...
... I can't wait to have VF on time.

I really have great lost on rentals again and again

You can't blame them for not wanting to put a product on the street until it is the best it can be. If these units were so easy to make, then everyone would be making them. Keep up the good work Viewfactor and I have no problem waiting for your product when it is 100% ready to meet me.

From what I understand - without going into specific details - the profit margins on these products are so small that there's no room to just go out and hire a lot of people and have parts done in the US. As much as that would have sped up being able to deliver the product it would most likely mean that either the prices would have gone up to at least 2x or 3x the price of what it is now - or VF would have delivered and then gone out of business. I'd rather have them in business for a long time and keep bringing great products to the market. In time they will hopefully be able to staff up and learn the art of manufacturing products and bring them to market.

I have faith in them (now), but boy - I sure hate the waiting :)

Boom boom, love it.

I'm sorry, but only _ _ _ _ _ book jobs with gear they don't have yet, basic business one on one. Yeah they are waaaayyyyyy past their due dates and their posts about delivery don't really mean much but heh, this is the ride. I would suggest that if you don't like it, get your money back as Leo did and then buy later if you want to. It has cost me $ as well because i chose this product instead of a second hand manual FF3 or something cheap like the 'micro' but that's how it goes. I'm not happy but what ya gonna do about it. And i would prefer to wait even another couple months so we get a good product rather than something that is 90% the way there. Me, i'm hoping for 2009 sometime:) HA!

Hi Tony,

For those of us who don't wish to bother Curt now you have the inside story, could you please let us know what is happening?

Otherwise I will jump on the phone and I am sure I wouldn't be the only other one to tie up more of his time possibly slowing down delivery of all our FFs.

Cheers, Tim.

Please excuse my ignorance regarding the Inclino, Imperio and Origo, but will this system allow a Nikon lens to increase the amount of turning radius from close to infinite focus and vice versa? Thanks in advance.

Nick.

Yes, It should solve that problem. But most of us have not seen/used one yet. There is only one (hardwire) unit out on the street that I am aware of.

Anybody knows if they shipped the first 10 units this week ?
Would like to see some feedback and of course to see them shipping would be also a great relief ;)

I am #7 and have heard nothing about shipping ... I had an email to make sure my address was correct but thats it so far.

I am in Australia so it could be somewhere in transit, but I would have thought I would get a tracking number.

Cheers, Tim

I don't think I can tell you much more than what we already know. Curt is working intensely to fix bugs from beta-testers and put as many features into the units as possible. He told me that he's literally days away from shipping, and I felt reassured that he's telling the truth once I had talked to him. I could hear in his voice how much he wanted these things to ship and how much of a battle it's been to get them done.

We all get your upset and you lost lots of money, blah blah....But for once
I would like to open this thread to get info and status and not see ANOTHER post about how pissed you are. You are entitled to your opinion and comments
but JEEEESH oh MAN!!!! give it a rest will ya.

Sorry Paul... Once again -- no heart feeling -- and No comment on your blah blah.. Smart people understand, this time -- it was a joke.
well.. Keep up your good work

I liked what .. Cam Crowley Said "opinions are like arseholes " (LOL)

I must say that my frustration with delay after delay after delay is very close to a 10. I think that it's totally irresponsible for a company to take full payment for a product that is no where near shipping a finished product. I would have understood more there being a deposit on a product that is in development but not full payment. I'm very dissapointed to say the least. I have no doubt that Curt is a good guy but this is rediculous. Hopefully, the next product that they release will be ready to ship when they release it.

I have a 2 motors and a controller on order. The way I'm looking at it is that I did only pay a part payment. The 2nd part is the waiting and the frustration.

I believe Curt's mistake was charging so little for the product. If he had been more greedy he would have had cash to through at problems. Unfortunately/fortunately he wasn't greedy and he has had to attack his challenges with his only 'free', to him and us, resource (his time). There is no way he could afford a 100 unit recall!! There is a lot of pressure on him!!

I'm confidant that in a years time all this will be forgotten and we will be delighted with out low cost FF.

C-motion is wonderful system that we were all free to buy. We didn't... we gambled and the payout (in time terms) is just not quite as big as we might have hoped!

regards

Michael L

Michael, I feel the same way.

I want VFS to stay in business. Better to get it right first than to have it recalled and lose their small profit margin (if they haven't already lost it).

Hopefully they get a better profit margin on the Mirus MoCo head. I am going to want a track axis and maybe lift to add to the pan/tilt.
